BEST Smartphone for Early 2025!
AI-Generated Summary
The year 2024 has brought an impressive lineup of smartphones, offering something for everyone. For flagship performance, the Vivo X200 Pro stands out with its Mediatek Dimensity 9400 chip, DSLR-level camera, and 6,000 mAh battery. Gamers will love the Red Magic 10 Pro Plus (7,050 mAh, 24GB RAM, 144Hz AMOLED) and ROG Phone 9 Pro (185Hz refresh rate). Budget-conscious buyers should consider the Infinix Note 40 Pro Plus (£250) or CMF Phone 1 (£169), which offer premium features at unbeatable prices. Foldable enthusiasts can’t go wrong with the Google Pixel 99 Pro Fold (seven years of updates) or Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 (AI features). The iPhone 16 Pro Max remains a top pick for its ecosystem and camera, while the Oppo Find X8 Pro impresses with its design and performance. However, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (fake TikTok version) is a dud—avoid it. For 2025, keep an eye on the OnePlus 303, Samsung S25 Ultra, and Honor Magic 7 series. these are the best smartphones of 2024 going into 2025 hi guys it’s asbt and if you’re hunting for the best phone right now you’re in for a treat we’ve got the latest we’ve got the fastest we’ve got the coolest phones to make your dreams come true that Line’s a little bit cheesy but you get the idea from mind-blowing cameras to insane performance battery beasts best budget phones best premium phones best foldables I mean flipping hell we’ve got it all some of which you’ve probably never heard of and whether you’re a gamer a photographer or you just need something that slays as the cool kids say these days then I’ve got the perfect pick for you and uh I’ve also got the worst phone of the year as well so hit the like button smash the Subscribe button so we can try and hit that million and let’s jump into it so first up we have the best pound-for-pound smartphone so a brilliant handset that possibly offers more than the price would suggest and for this category I have three different recommendations at differing price ranges that even gazum fan favorites like the Poco F6 Pro two of the phones are at around the 500 Mark so both incredible mid-range options the first of those is the IQ 13 BMW Edition and it’s one of the fastest phones on the planet Flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chip combined with 16 GB of RAM and a 144hz AMOLED display make this one of the snappiest handsets ever made thanks to the Android software feature where you can increase the speed of the animations compared to the latest supremely powerful iPhone 16 Pro Max in a direct speed test it feels a fair bit faster Android 15 a whopping 6,150 mAh battery a very solid 50 megap triple camera and a very premium slick design makes this a wonderful option for those not looking to break the bank but also for that fee you could go for the xiaomi 14t a slightly less powerful 4 NM mediatech dimensity 8,300 Ultra chip but it’s still super fast and outside of that it’s an absolute monster and ticks many of the boxes that you would need in a high-end phone large battery great stereo speakers a substantial triple camera with competitive main Ultra wide and optical zoom ip68 AMOLED High refresh rate display very solid indeed but then for around £300 more so fairly expensive but not £1,000 plus we have the Oppo Find X8 standard model but for that extra money you are getting pretty much a top tier Flagship in every single aspect the pro model will no doubt get the hype from media outlets and probably pushed maybe heavier by the brand themselves too but this might actually be the standout winner this year for them bright and vibrant super smooth display the latest Android 15 software a whopping 5,630 M battery for the size of phone and uh the latest flagship mediatech dimensity 9,400 which has even been seen to outperform the Snapdragon 8 Elite in some circumstances and a brilliant triple 50 mapix camera rig what a star Star Award well done Oppo now of course these three phones are more than capable of high-end gaming but what is actually the best gaming phone well almost every year it seems I’m split between two powerhouses from Asus and red magic the Rog 9 Pro and the 10 Pro plus respectively now personally with each passing year this category feels slightly less hyped in a way unfortunately simply because all normal Flagship phones have become excellent at gaming too so some of the drawbacks of traditional gaming phones like often substandard cameras quirky software region availability problems Etc perhaps make them a harder sell but there is no denying this year we have two absolute behemoths again 24 GB of RAM on both yeah you heard that right 24 mental Snapdragon 8 Elite on both Android 15 on both and then we are importantly different on display battery and design the latter is subjective of course but both attempt this in a very different way both do have some of that RGB action on the rear they are gaming phones after all but the red magic has more subtle logo and X lightups compared to the rog’s more in yourf face LED panel offering that can be customized and used for notifications camera timers Etc you have haptic triggers which AIDS gameplay as do their respective software game modes the red magic has a 144 HZ AMOLED display with under screen selfie camera for that wall to–all obstruction free experience and the RG has a quite remarkable 185 Herz refresh rate for Ultra smooth gameplay I think we’re going to be at 1,000 Herz before you know it so just play could be personal preference but the red magic 10 Pro kills it in the battery Department with a monstrous 7,000 and 50 Mah cell and it has a headphone jack too so for you lovers out there they’ve got you now here’s a challenge for you do you know what this 250 phone is called I’ll give you a few seconds write it in the comments what you think it is if you didn’t know what this is then it’s Poss the best phone that you’ve never heard of this is the infinix note 40 Pro Plus and it’s a great little number 108 megap camera 120 HZ AMOLED display it’s more than powerful enough for most people and it’s got a very attractive design not that I’m attracted to phones but you get the idea next up we have the most unique phone and honorable mentions include TCL for their 50 Pro NEX paper 5G whose dis display can transform into an e in style one with the switch of the magic button on the side techno with their Transformer inspired spark 30 series phones and Huawei with the world’s first double folding phone but nothing is more unique than what nothing is currently doing we’ve had budget modular phones from their cmf umbrella brand we’ve got glow-in-the-dark phones we’ve had led party phones all built on a unique take on software stripping things back simplifying navigation and giving you hopefully a better phone life balance like it all lpet you can’t say what nothing are doing is boring and I don’t think it’ll be until a couple of years time until we actually start to really see the company’s vision and I think that starts with them flexing their muscles with their very own true first flagship phone and I’m here for it and nothing also jumps into one of the two slots in the next category as well for best budget phone the forementioned cmf phone 1 turned quite a few heads with its modular design but it also had a stellar 5,000 MH battery up to Android 16 longevity so 2 years major updates and a powerful 4 NM dimensity 7,300 5G chip and boosted Ram up to 16 GB and 120 HZ AMOLED display all for just £169 great little phone as is the budget offering from Samsung the Galaxy a16 it really does tick a lot of boxes for its1 199 price tag it’s reliable feature software AMOLED display Android 14 with six years major updates usable 50 megap triple camera and a large 5000 mAh battery but which phone has the best battery well honorable mentions include 2024 offerings from the likes of OnePlus and honor but we’ve got more on both of those with their 2025 phones coming up and the iPhone 16 Pro Max which has been incredible in my experience in the time that I’ve used it and far superior to its predecessor the 15 Pro Max but for sheer battery size we have the red magic 10 Pro with its whopping 7050 Mah cell of course and the smaller but more optimized Vivo X200 Pro what Vivo have done with their 6,000 MH battery and software optimization utilizing the mediatech dimensity 9,400 chip is nothing short of incredible but what if you want the unfashionable so to speak small or compact phone these days well for this I refer back to my best smartphones round up earlier this year because the same still really Rings true no one company since Asus with their Zen phone line dropping it and apple with their Mini have made a compact phone version so that really leaves us with two main options the first is to buy a flagship standard model not the Maxes or Ultras of the world and for this I would say the s24 iPhone 16 Pro or even the xiaomi 14 for great availability top tier performance and Reliable Hardware and software and integrated AI features or if you fancied waiting and wanted to risk a cheeky import the just launched xiaomi 15 looks incredible 6.36 in qualcomm’s new high-end Snapdragon 8 Elite chip 5,400 MH battery which is considerably larger than the previous gen 14 it looks great but you could also go for the second style option and that is to get a flip phone phone that cuts in half doesn’t cut in half it folds in half for the ultimate portability and for this category I have three recommendations the first two are the Motorola Razer 50 Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy Zed flip 6 and while they both have many different features they’re incredibly hard to separate personally I prefer the design and the Epic edgo Edge front display panel on the Motorola it actually makes it really usable and the slightly Superior 8s gen 3 chip to the standard 8 gen 3 on the Galaxy flip is a nice touch but the camera images and modes the added dust resistance and all of those amazing Galaxy AI software features probably levels this one out it’s a really tough one to pick but if you’re on a budget the Techno Phantom V Flip 2 might be just a ticket it is slightly less powerful the mediatech dimensity 8020 chip but similar camera rig to the Z flip 6 larger battery at 4,720 M and it has just as good a premium look and feel really so as we’re talking foldable devices what about the larger tablet to phone ones well my favorite design has to be the Google 99 Pro fold it really was a great Hardware upgrade this year and it has a really solid camera for a folding phone decent battery if not amazing and a whopping seven years of major software updates and all of the great Gemini AI features at your fingertips so it’s really only the slightly underwhelming raw performance of the tensor G4 that’s holding it back underwhelming compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite 818 Pro Etc it’s still a brilliant performer if you aren’t swatting up on your numbers features wise and optimization it’s the Zed fold 6 for me it does work incredibly well Samsung continues to do an excellent job here I just can’t quite get my head around the decision to refuse to move away from this long candy bar long thin form factor the general consensus is that the majority of people want a wider front display phone first tablet second kind of vibe so this just feels like it misses the mark and has done really since is since its Inception six Generations ago I’m also desperate to see that S Pen inside the phone itself come on Samsung do the right thing with the next one you also have the very similar and very brilliant Vivo fold 3 Pro and honor magic V3 if you want a ridiculously thin form factor with the Vivo providing better battery but honor the faster processor and then of course for the most out there bleeding edge super experimental you have the Huawei mate XT ultimate design the world’s first dual folding smartphone crazy stuff and while this still might not be the most practical it’s certainly the most Forward Thinking and continued Innovation is always a good thing and then we come to the best camera not sure what these are honorable mentions number one iPhone 16 Pro Max for a great all round photo and video experience easy and reliable in app use it’s amazing for the masses and the Oppo Find x 8 Pro which offers some of the best portrait and zoom Clarity on the market but both are in my humble opinion just pipped by the new poo X200 Pro absolutely smashing out the park again this is without doubt the closest we’ve ever seen to a DSLR camera truly insane portraits incredible details even when zooming in great distances realistic colors 4K 120 FPS and 8K 30 FPS video and a 200 map Periscope telephoto lens just remarkable but did it make my best overall phone well before we find out let’s check three of the best upcoming phones firstly we have the global version of the OnePlus 303 which we believe will have a new sup toop 50 megap triple camera a 6000 mAh battery and as always super slick software experience for a mid-range price then we have the rumed s25 series released in a few weeks with the ultra supporting a 200 megap quad camera and the thinnest bezels known to man and the honor magic 7 Series a larger battery more advanced camera and the Snapdragon 8 performance as well so subscribe for those reviews so finally we have the best all round phone if money is No Object and there have been some incredible phones released over the last year so this is very very difficult iPhone 16 Pro Max for example great battery all around camera useful Apple AI inclusion and probably the best ecosystem phone you’ve got the Samsung s24 Ultra best looking phone for me again this year it it tis basically every box amazing display great performance solid battery top tier Galaxy AI features too and future software support I mean what’s not to love and the honor magic 6 Pro a wonderful phone which really goes toe-to-toe with all it meets and I adore this kind of petal black look as well the final two honorable mentions include the Google pixel 9 Pro XL massive improvements on the previous gen and so close to the top spot and the Oppo Find X8 Pro stonkingly good and also almost won this award for an incredible camera classy design and Beast performance but for me there is one clear winner this year and if no ecosystems are involved then the Vivo X200 Pro is sitting pretty and the only major floor is I can see from this phone is in my opinion the ugly design not really the phone as a whole while a little Bland maybe but more so this gigon camera rig on the back I do feel Vivo need to possibly take a leaf out of oppos or Samsung’s books when it comes to design Samsung are probably still the king when it comes to balancing top tier Tech and Elite Sleek fashion forward designs but outside of that the Vivo X200 pro has a smashing battery as you’ve seen probably the most complete true camera like experience on the market one of the vastest performances on the market with a dimensity 9,400 and it really is top of the tree this year little Christmas pun there if you indeed celebrate it but one of the worst phones I’ve got one and you’re going to enjoy this but first if you are getting a new iPhone 16 series phone make sure you check out the video description for some of the best cases and screen protectors around from ESR they offer brilliant protection and a whole host of differing designs for you and the screen prot protectors are quite literally the easiest I have ever used so the worst phone please don’t buy the Samsung Galaxy s24 Ultra which is a weird one because I said it was a great phone but the one I got here this new one is extremely laggy the Spen wobbles the camera doesn’t even have zoom and don’t get me started on those massive bezels so maybe quality control might be an issue but of course a key piece of information that I’ve missed there is this is no ordinary s24 Ultra this is the viral Tik Tok shop jup that has been selling by the bucket loads for around £100 don’t buy it it’s incredibly fake for that money get yourself a real cmf phone 1 or Galaxy a16 instead for about 50 Quid more so you can actually use your phone for more than 2 weeks without the processor which is probably made out of a banana capitulating on you rendering your handset useless let me know in the comments which phone you would have as your best for the love last year and if you did find this video helpful a like And subscribe would be amazing I’m trying to hit that million so if we can get us there that would be absolutely superb check out some of the other videos that I think you might like here and follow my other social medias for short form content on this and Tech in general my name’s Adam you’ve been the best as always I love you and leave you I’ll see you in the next one sayt peace out
