well folks we have a bevy of stories for you today surrounding the Nintendo Switch shoe and games coming to it including things like Call of Duty and some other stuff and I feel like a lot of these stories are building towards a narrative of an upcoming Nintendo Direct we’re going to talk about that towards the end we’ll have our timestamps down below for everything of course and I have to remind you we are giving away five copies of Donkey Kong Bonanza in order to enter to win that all you have to do is go down to the link in the pinned comment or the description we’ll be picking the winners in July before the game comes out and you know what folks let’s just get right in here and we’ll start with our first story here it deals with Call of Duty so Call of Duty Black Ops 7 was announced over the weekend during the Microsoft event it was the closer and they did announce after the event that there would be a event later this summer detailing more details about the game because they didn’t reveal a whole lot other than some futuristic stuff and some potential time travel implications and some interesting things going on honestly a lot of it’s just hints we don’t actually understand the full breath of it until we get to that event well uh one thing happened afterwards because they showed no system logos during the event for Call of Duty Black Ops 7 and that was the fact that well when they did announce the systems Switch 2 was not among them now PlayStation 4 was there uh so they’re still making it for that old platform so where is the Switch 2 version after all there’s a contract in place for 10 years of Call of Duty when we didn’t get it last year the natural assumption was well they must be waiting for Switch 2 well we have some updates on that so this guy called American Truck songs says sources tell Kotaku that both Microsoft and Nintendo are working on getting Call of Duty on the ladder’s hardware and we’ll announce something in the future now who is this person because you know just looking at it I wasn’t sure it does go by the username Ethan Gatch but you know I I don’t keep up to date on everyone that works at Kotaku so of course I had to go over to his profile here to see that he is a senior reporter at Kotaku okay well Kotaku is not always the most up to date with Nintendo stuff i think they’re even blacklisted by Nintendo but this isn’t the only place we’re getting this information from that there is a plan in the works for Call of Duty on Switch 2 uh we also have this over from GameSpot says Call of Duty is still coming to Switch 2 activision confirms we’re committing to get the franchise on Switch so Activision announced the announcement of Black Ops 7 it did not mention a release on Nintendo platforms but the company remains committed to bringing the shooter series to Switch that’s according to sources who talked to Kotaku of course we already went over that and said the site reported that both sides are still working on it and a spokesperson for Activision told GameSpot “We’re committed to getting the franchise on Switch.” Both teams are working on it we’ll share details when ready however it remains to be seen if it’s going to be on Switch or Switch 2 or both obviously all of that um the game is confirmed again to be on PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series like Xbox One there’s no reason it can’t really be on Switch 2 uh we all know the Xbox or sorry the Switch 2 at least is as performant as an Xbox One and PlayStation 4 probably more performant overall so there’s not really any reason this game shouldn’t be there other than maybe they just haven’t had enough time to port it over uh and it goes over the fact that in 2023 you know they signed a 10-year binding legal agreement so again we have to be getting Call of Duty at some point now they’re confirming that they’re still working on something and to me this all builds towards the fact that well over the weekend pretty much nothing was announced for Switch 2 that wasn’t previously known and I think there’s a reason for that again we’ll get into that later because we have an exciting story here that isn’t going to bear fruit for a while if it bears fruit at all but that is because Andy Robinson from Video Game Chronicle decided to tweet this out hearing Rare’s new leadership can now be massive for the chances of a new Banjo Kazouie what what do we even need Rare to make it could another PS look the bottom line is uh apparently there’s new leadership at Rare and Leadership uh wants to potentially work on a new Banjo Kazouie so hey we got to sit there and take this stuff in obviously if a new Banjo Kazouie does come to fruition it’s probably could be like three four five years from now so this is one of those stories where it gives us a lot of opium and copium for the idea that Banjo Kazouie could come back uh besides just appearing in Smash Bros ultimate but again none of this is up to us we just have to wait and see uh Andy Robinson sources are usually pretty legit however this just increases the chances it doesn’t guarantee so it’s more of one of those wishful thinking stories uh what might not be a wishful thinking story is a rumor we have out there for the sales data for Nintendo Switch for launch weekend out in France it comes from this guy named Gio translated by Pierre 485 who usually handles all the French sales data on X and it says “Nintendo Switch 2 sold over 200,000 units in France that makes it the fastest selling console in history doubling the previous record holder which was PlayStation 5 and 107,000 units it generated over 130 million euros in 4 days mario Kart World attach rate is over 95% and he does go on the note here that please take this tweet as a rumor because it has not been confirmed by Nintendo Frances PR yet now some sales data we will have this week will include Japanese sales data that gets announced every Thursday uh one thing about that is we aren’t sure if that data is going to include sales directly through the My Nintendo store it’s up to Nintendo if they provide that data uh but bottom line is we’re going to get some sales data at least officially for Japan uh Nintendo could release a PR statement it’s only Monday nintendo could release a PR statement later this week uh confirming things like what I heard i had heard 3 million sales globally uh and that was on day one obviously that didn’t include the full weekend what Nintendo’s going to announce could be different uh I don’t know i’m not working at these companies i can only share what’s told to me and what’s there this is all rumors at this point but what’s not a rumor is what’s happening with The Legend of Zelda movie that’s right it is in the news officially thanks to Shagro Biamoto uh there was this post out here posted about eight hours ago and Shigar Miiamoto comes in to say this is Miamoto for production reasons we are changing the release date of the liveaction film of The Legend of Zelda to May 7th 2027 it will be some weeks later than the release timing we originally announced and we will take the extra time to make the film as good as it can be thank you for your patience and look I don’t blame them look this movie’s a 2027 movie so it’s so far out it’s hard to really be upset that the date got pushed back uh some people may be upset about it personally I don’t think it’s worth uh worrying about now one thing that we did get a little bit of news about over the weekend was Hollow Knight Silk Song it did appear in the Xbox showcase and it is going to be available day one on Xbox’s new handheld they partnered with the ROG Ally on they partnered with Asus I should say that’s just the company name microsoft and them partnered together to release an Xbox handheld this winter and they said Silkong will be available day one uh when the platform launches and this led to a lot of people believing that oh Silkong must be launching alongside the new handheld later in 2025 so okay fine well no actually it’s going to be launching sooner uh and hey the head of PR wanted to make sure you’re aware of that so we go over here all this stuff comes off a Discord server of course uh because that’s where this was being communicated so Daily Silkong News Year says this wasn’t in the video but Leth explicitly confirmed that Silkong were released before the holiday and that they are not tied to Xbox conso’s release so while it’s going to be day one on that console they’re launching before then so I confirmed before holiday we are not tied to a console release so Leth and who the hell is Leth well you might be wondering you know Matthew Griffin here coming in as well saying before holiday uh Matthew Griffin is Leth so this guy and this guy are the same things this is a Discord server this is in the live chat during the Xbox showcase and it says he’s the PR marketing manager for Team Cherry so Matthew Griffin is literally a PR marketing manager for Team Cherry he probably knows exactly when Holiday Song is coming out and he repeated it twice that it is coming before holiday so that means this fall or summer right we obviously don’t know when because they haven’t given us a release date uh maybe the release date is coming in a future Nintendo Direct because they said they are not tied to that platform launch so that’s something to keep in mind and speaking of a Nintendo Direct look we don’t have any new direct rumors here or anything whether or not Brazil’s one source about being adamant that it be this week um is true or not we don’t know it’s only Monday nintendo only ever gives us a day warning so we still have like pretty much till Wednesday uh Wednesday will probably when we know if it’s happening this week um I think a Nintendo Direct is happening fairly soon uh if I’m not saying this week uh my best bet’s always been the end of the week or the end of the week the end of the month the last week of the month like around the 25th and the reason I think there’ll be one this month outside of the fact that Nintendo pretty much always does one in June is because we need one um Nintendo doesn’t have release dates for any of their games after Donkey Kong Bonanza i mean yeah Pokemon Legends Z8 got an October 16th release date but besides that and we already know when a Pokemon Direct is happening we know that direct is happening in July so I doubt there’s going to be a direct in July when they have the Pokemon presents happening there uh and obviously once we get to August we’re really close to September which is the 40th anniversary of Super Mario and they usually do a direct in September so I fully suspect a possibly Super Mario themed direct if not a direct that heavily features Super Mario uh in September but we don’t know when Drag X Drive is coming out and that’s a summer 2025 game guess what i know we’re not technically officially at least in the where I live in the United States in summer summer begins June 20th but we’re basically in summer and uh we don’t have a release date for Drag X Drive we don’t have a release date for Metro Prime 4 Beyond we don’t have a release date we don’t have to have one yet but we don’t have a release date for Age of Imprisonment we don’t have a release date for Kirby Air Riders and that’s just Nintendo’s games after Doggy Hill Manza on July 17th we don’t know when anything’s coming out uh and that includes a lot of third party games final Fantasy 7 we now know is coming this winter but we don’t know when it just got announced for Xbox over the weekend they reconfirmed it’s coming to Switch to an Xbox at the same time but not exactly when the release date is that’s weird why don’t we have that and then we had all these events with obviously Call of Duty uh where they had to come out after the fact for the platform isn’t listed uh as Switch 2 and clarify oh Call of Duty is coming uh we’re still working on it or could that just be them trying to say “Hey we have to wait for that Nintendo Direct so we can announce the Call of Duty game.” And this actually I think bears true because from Summer GameFest through all the indie stuff which indies really didn’t get dev kits till quite recently uh and then obviously dealing with uh this idea of the Xbox showcase as well really what we’re looking at here is that there was absolutely zero brand new Switch 2 games announced during this summer period we had a handful of new Switch stuff announced but nothing announced for Switch 2 and that feels very weird because all the bigname companies were participating and we know some of these bigname companies have dev kits so why the hell was nothing announced and the reality probably is that Nintendo is pulling a Switch what do I mean well Nintendo likes to act like every time they get a third party game aaa one especially that it’s this big event deal and they want to be the ones to present it in a Nintendo Direct on one hand this does make their Nintendo Directs more exciting on the other hand it’s Nintendo treating their own platform as being different and special compared to everybody else who’s getting the same game often running a little bit better to a lot better so I don’t really understand why Nintendo wants to treat it that way but that is a theory I have obviously the other theory is that oh they don’t have any dev kits or oh if they do have dev kits you know Nintendo Switch is not going to get all the third party support and a lot of people out there are taking that angle that want Nintendo to fail and I totally understand i just don’t see how we can get Cyber Punk at launch and then just nothing else right there’s got to be other stuff coming besides the games already announced including like the first light uh 007 game that’s already announced for it obviously Final Fantasy 7 uh integrate already announced so again I’m going to sit back here and think a lot of this is because Nintendo is doing what they did with Switch and if you guys remember back in the Switch era almost every major third party game announcement for Switch was saved for Nintendo Direct and not announced in any other major event i hope that changes over the course of the Switch 2 generation it did change for Switch over time but it took like 6 years before Nintendo started letting this stuff be in other events and uh Nintendo is the one that controls whether you can publish the game on their platform so they can control a little bit at least about when you can announce it for their platform so in the end I do think that uh that’s probably what’s happening and that’s maybe the biggest indicator a direct is coming we need dates for Nintendo games and we need frankly more games announced for the platform there’s actually not that many games announced in the future like if we look ahead to the future of Switch 2 um yeah Nintendo has a handful of games but we don’t actually have that many announced at the moment considering that we still have like 6 months to go in the year why probably because the Nintendo Direct is about to happen fairly soon over the next few weeks that is my guess of course i do not have any rumor or fact to back this up i just think that it’s really convenient that literally zero brand new not previously announced Switch 2 games were not talked about during these summer events meanwhile we don’t have release dates for anything and one game in Call of Duty that was announced that we know is probably coming to Switch 2 conveniently left out the Switch 2 logo off the website while dropping several different hints and reports and you know responses to media that hey we are working on something it’s like well why can’t you say more there’s probably a reason so uh we’ll leave it at that you guys let me know what you think about this down in the comments below maybe I’m crazy maybe I’m sipping the a little bit too much maybe nothing’s coming to Switch 2 the platform is about to flop and be another Wii U is third parties run and abandon this thing after launch and every report about third party support being really big on the platform was a lie whether it was Tom Henderson or Tom Warren or uh Andy Robinson or all these reporters over the last couple years that said “Hey a whole bunch of third-party games are coming to Switch.” Maybe they all were wrong it was all one big lie and Switch 2 is about to lose all the AAA third parties and this is about to be an N64/GameCube situation i just don’t think that’s I don’t think I I have a hard time buying into everyone’s wrong it just doesn’t doesn’t seem practical anyways folks I’m Nathaniel Robans from Nintendo Prime i’ll see what you guys have to say down in the comments and I’ll catch you either on tonight’s live stream or in our new video tomorrow [Music]
