All right, everyone. We have a bevy, and I mean like a deluge, a floodgate of Switch 2 news for you today. Maybe one of the largest days for Nintendo Switch 2 news we’ve had since April 2nd. That’s how much is dropping today and how big these stories are. That said, one of the biggest stories today, we already made an individual video on if you guys haven’t checked it out. We went over Nintendo’s officially announced upgrades to the free upgraded games coming to Switch 2. We went over all of that, including a screenshot and even a comparison of upgrades in Scarlet and Violet. So, you guys should go check out that video if you haven’t. But this video today, uh, we’re actually going to be talking about a little bit of hardware news and Nintendo’s potential, uh, future upgrades for Switch 2 with their processing nodes. Uh, we’re going to be talking about some crazy stuff going on with some rumors and some big games coming and some talk from CEOs. Uh, we got some news from Nintendo today and just more like this is there there’s a lot of big stories in here. All the time stamps are down below so you can jump around. Uh, before we jump in though, I just got to remind you we are giving away two Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundles. To enter, all you have to do is click on the link down in the description or in the pinned comment. And without further ado, let’s get into our first big story here. It’s coming out of Korea from Chosen Biz. This is their official English article because they do put all their articles in English as well. So, Samsung electronics boosts utilization of five and 8 nanmter foundry and attracts new clients. All right, so let’s go down here and get to the Nintendo stuff. So, it starts here with this paragraph saying in particular, it is planned to produce the Nvidia Tegra system on a chip, which is funny. They’re not calling it a Tegra, it’s just called the T239. Anyways, for Nintendo’s ambitious Project Switch 2 using the 8 nanometer process, while orders from domestic international corporations for 5nanmter are also pouring in. All right, let’s get to this next paragraph. Now, according to the industry sources on the 14th, the initial sales volume of the Switch 2 produced in Samsung’s electronics 8nmter foundry process is expected to exceed 15 million units. This is seen as good news for Samsung’s foundry, which is struggling with declining operational rates. An industry official noted Nintendo’s projected 15 million sales figure for Switch 2 is conservatively set due to price increases and tariffs, adding in reality is expected to surpass 20 million units in sales within 1 to two years. All right, let’s get to this more interesting stuff. We got two more paragraphs here. Initially, Nintendo was deliberating between Samsung electronics 5nanmter and 8nmter processes, but it is reported to have chosen the 8nanmter process, which does not use extreme ultraviolet lithography equipment. Although chip performance is somewhat lower than that of 5nanmter, there are advantages in terms of cost and yield. It is also said that Nintendo considered TSMC’s 7nanmter and 8nmter processes but chose Samsung’s foundry due to its fast and stable delivery and pricing advantages. Now, this is the paragraph that talks about the future. The Switch 2 is continuing its early success with 2.2 million lottery applications in Japan alone and plans to strengthen production capacity with the global launch. A source familiar with Samsung Electronics said there remains a possibility that Nintendo will use other processes from Samsung Electronics Foundry for performance improvements after Switch 2’s launch, adding, “This order will serve as an important reference for Samsung’s Foundry in the gaming console market, and future orders from competitors like AMD can also be expected. So essentially uh the only processing nodes they were talking about with Samsung were 5nmter and 8nmter. This leads me to believe that Nintendo may consider 5nmter for a switch to OLED or pro or switch to light. Like if you remember on the Nintendo Switch, they did end up shrinking the original Tegra X1 with the uh Switch to or Switch version two uh and the Switch Light. Uh they ended up shrinking the die. They had to solve some security issues. That was one of the reasons they did it. They did shrink the die. So, we could see a die shrink yet again this time around in a different way. But we also have to turn our focus obviously away from the hardware for a bit and get into the games because there’s an interview at the game business of Take 2’s CEO. Take 2 has four games already announced for Nintendo Switch 2 and there’s more coming. So, Take 2 CEO said, “I’d argue Rockstar has been putting out a new GTA a couple times a year. It’s a kind of a weird thing. It’s a big generalized um thing. that gets to do a lot of different things including GTA 6. Um he doesn’t answer any questions about GTA 6 coming to like Switch 2 or anything like that. Um but he does go into their thoughts behind it and the cost of things and what are they doing to reduce cost. You see Xbox has just increased pricing on his machines. Um so now we get to the Switch 2 stuff perhaps related to that. What are your expectations for Nintendo Switch 2? How are you feeling about it? He says we feel really good about it but it always remains to be seen. We’re offering more on launch support than ever before for a Nintendo platform. We’ve announced four titles for Switch 2. It remains to be seen how it does, but I am a big believer. And I believe those four titles were what is it? Civilization 7, Borderlands 4, NBA 2K, and WWE 2K. I believe are the four. And it says third party games often find it harder to succeed on Nintendo platforms. And he says that is true. Historically, Nintendo has done a better and more supportive job with first-party titles, but I think they are aiming to change that and we have basically risen to the challenge and opportunity and we’ll see how it goes. We voted with our feet. Nintendo has asked us to be supportive and we do believe we’re doing that. Now, we see what happens. So, you’re getting it here. Hey, man. Nintendo did reach out and ask them to support and they’re bringing the support. So now they just want to see what happens. Obviously that could impact uh future things in here and they go over just a bunch of other stuff at Take 2. Um yeah. So look, obviously when we talk about Take 2, it’s hard to ignore Rockstar is like the biggest deal that they have going on at the company. Uh and we want to know GTA 6 is coming over and we don’t and we probably won’t know for quite some time. If I had to guess, 2027 is the earliest I could see a Switch 2 version happening, if it happens at all. But here’s the thing. Uh, there’s other games Rockstar is working on. How about Red Dead Redemption 2? Well, Game Reactor exclusive Red Dead Redemption 2 for Nintendo Switch 2 may arrive this year. All right, let’s get into this. Earlier this year, in the midst of a flurry of Nintendo Switch 2 leaks, just before its official reveal video, publications such as Game Reactor heard the inevitable rumors about the first Nintendo and third party games that would accompany the console. We heard of Cyberpunk 2077, Split Fiction, Final Fantasy 7, and Elden Ring titles finally confirmed at the Nintendo Switch 2 direct presentation in April. But there was one big rumored game that we heard who had missed the party. Red Dead Redemption 2 and it happened again. Game Reactor has heard from sources close to Rockstar that the acclaimed Wild Wild West open world opus considered one of the best video games ever is not only on its way to Switch 2, but could be coming to the new console as soon as later this year. The very same has been heard and is corroborated over at Nintendu from different sources. What’s more, Red Dead Redemption 2 for Switch 2 wouldn’t be coming alone or as a one-off move, but it’s possible that it could be coming at the same time or somewhat later as an update to the game for current gen hardware, one of the so-called nextG upgrade patches that brings the graphics and performance of Red Dead Redemption 2 up to date for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Of course, plans can change, especially when we’re talking about a turbulent few years in the gaming industry. They also bring up the GTA 4 to PS uh 4 and Switch one rumor as well. Uh which is something we’ve previously discussed. Uh look, I obviously uh would be really excited to see Red Dead Redemption 2 make its way over. And we have another insider uh corroborating this. Uh this is Nash Weedle uh who’s quoting Necroalipe Lima from Universal Nintendo’s report on this. And he says, “Yes, this is happening in regards to Red Dead Redemption 2.” And you know, when I bring up Nash Weedle, it’s because he’s quickly becoming a fairly reliable insider. And you know what? He has more rumors for us. Uh this time dealing with Star Fox, baby. Uh so right here, uh it says rumor Star Fox Zero on Switch 2. Uh adapted control taking advantage of the mouse mode that emulates some of the actions we did with the Wii U tablet. That’s with the robot that we used to have to use the tablet to like go down into ships and explore. uh that change in gameplay would be automatic just by using the gesture, change the position of the Joy-Con, Star Fox Guard is coming as well. So, what he’s saying here is Star Fox Zero is coming to Switch 2 and it’s going to have a few gameplay changes, all the tablet stuff put into mouse mode. Look, I obviously don’t know if this is happening. I would be more excited by a brand new Star Fox game rather than one that took so much damn inspiration uh from things that I I’m not really that big and keen on. Uh, but still things that matter and I look, it’s one of the few Wii U games that haven’t been ported yet. So, uh, I’ll take it. I just hope it leads to a new Star Fox game. That being said, uh, Nintendo San Francisco just recently opened, literally yesterday, and that’s exciting for people who at least live in the San Francisco area. Uh but it gave IGN an opportunity to actually interview Doug Bowser and they asked him one very important question uh that I think matters a lot to people and that’s the state of physical games and Nintendo game key cards. Uh so we get into the interview here uh and you can see most of this interview Doug Bowser tries really really hard to steer it to just be about the store but IGN keeps trying to get their questions in and at one point Bowser even tells them yeah I’d like to go back to talking about the store. Um we’ll get to that point. Uh, and yeah, they are going to have units available on launch day at the store as well, but they they’re not getting into the details on that yet. Um, but there’s one point in here that IGN a very important questions. Um, you know, this one’s al asking about the latest financial report for 15 million chip. Will Nintendo meet demand? Uh, that forecast is driven with wanting to match, if you will, what we accomplish with Switch in the first 10 months. We believe we’ll have production supply that will allow us to meet consumer demand. So, uh, Doug Bowser is saying that they do think they’ll be able to meet demand. Uh, so they get into the price point stuff. We’re going to skip over that because nothing new uh was really said there. They pressed him on the game stuff and he really didn’t bite. It was a bunch of same old same old, which is what you would expect. Um, they asked him about the backlash. They asked, you know, they try to drill him on Mario Kart. Um, so it’s pretty funny. Um, they get into customization, you know, but this is the point where he says, “But I’d love to focus now on the store. See, I told you.” He like takes IG and he like, “Nope, let’s stop talking about Switch 2. I’m not going to give you the answers you’re looking for, but they did get one important question in. Um, and they were able to tie it into the store. So, credit to them for being able to tie it in the store because this got Doug Bowser to give an honest answer. So, IGN, I noticed in the store there are a lot of physical games for sale for Nintendo Switch. And I look at your business reports every quarter and I see that physical is still roughly half, sometimes more, sometimes a little bit less of your software sales business, and there’s been a big change to physical and digital game management recently with virtual game cards and game key cards as we see upcoming on Switch 2. Moving forward, is physical still going to be a big part of your business or do you see game key cards where the actual game itself isn’t on the cartridge as kind of the future? All right, Bowser gives an answer. Here we go. In the immediate future, physical games are still a key part of our business, and we value our relationships in particular with our retailers, and we want to make sure we have products available for them to sell to their consumers. When you look at Game Key cards, for us, our goal with Nintendo Switch 2, similar to what we were able to accomplish on Switch, is to have the broadest and deepest library of content we possibly can. And that includes our publishing partners. And game key cards are a way that our publishing partners are able to bring more content onto the platform, deeper and larger, more immersive content on the platform. So, without really saying a whole lot, he’s essentially saying, “Look, the reason Game Key cards exist is our our partners. Uh they basically weren’t going to release games in any physical format.” And we’re like, “Hey, we’re trying to get our games and have more on the shelf.” And hey, what if we made this game key card thing? Would you guys use it? And so that seems to be uh what’s being implied here. Or maybe I’m just inferring that. I don’t know. Uh but uh they talk about, you know, very Switch focused. I think they only mention the Switch too. Again, I don’t really care what’s going on in the store, per se. That’s what we care about cuz we have more news on this front with the game key cards because one of the things people want to know is like Nintendo going to use game key cards because that would really make people mad. And we have an update on that. Nintendo Life says, “Nintendo has no plans to use game key cards for first-party developed titles.” So, we go down to the article here, it says, you know, you can push any fears about seeing Mario on a game key card aside. Nintendo has revealed to us, so this is exclusive to Nintendo Life, uh, that it has no plans to use new physical format on its first party developed titles. After more Switch 2 titles began to crop up under the Game Keyard label, we reached out to Nintendo UK for confirmation about whether we should expect to see the same approach used on Mario, Link, and Samus’ future endeavors. Today we received the following response. We currently have no plans to use Game Key cards for Nintendo developed titles. Now the keyword is obviously Nintendo developed titles. So there could be publishing partners. Uh there could be like, you know, if they’re if they’re publishing for say Ubisoft a game, Ubisoft could use a Game Key card even though Nintendo’s publishing. Yeah. Uh that’s pretty much uh what we wanted to hear is that at least Nintendo themselves is not going away from physical, even if they’re using 64 GB cards for much smaller games. Uh one thing that did happen and did crop up and has been widely debated about is variable refresh rate on Nintendo Switch 2 and it’s supporting TV mode or not. It originally was posted on their website that it did support TV mode and then it was taken off of the website that it didn’t, leaving a lot of questions. Then Digital Foundry came out like yesterday or the day before with the full specs of Nintendo Switch 2, which included the fact that VRR would not be supported in TV porn, but we still hadn’t heard from directly from Nintendo, at least until today. Nintendo apologizes for error with mention of Switch to VRR TV support. Uh-oh, not good. So, uh, we finally got some clarity and a statement from Nintendo on this. The information about variable refresh rate support originally published on the Switch 2 site was incorrect and VRR is handheld only. Here’s the statement. Nintendo Switch 2 supports variable refresh rate in handheld mode only. The incorrect information was initially published on the Nintendo Switch 2 website and we apologize for the error. And Nintendo, stop it. Look, I’ve been trying to combat misinformation. You make it increasingly difficult to do that when you’re the ones providing that misinformation. But I guess I guess this is you clarifying and I’m I’m glad to have some clarity on this situation. Now, on the topic of potential variable refresh rate support for dot mode coming in the future firmware update, Nintendo isn’t denying the possibility, just we have nothing to announce on this topic. So, they’re not saying they’re never going to support variable refresh rate in dot mode. Uh but they are saying it’s not there, at least at launch. So, I wonder what the reasonings are for this. And it would be curious if there was a developer interview that would deep dive into it, but whatever. Uh, next up is just this is just kind of a for fun story. I tossed this one in there because it made me smile. Uh, Japanese retails uh, gear up for Switch 2. And this is from Go Nintendo article. There’s other images out there, but this just makes me smile. And I’m not really sure why. These are probably all dummy cases, right? Like just retail madeup cases with their own printed stuff put in there. Uh, but I mean this when whenever people tell me like, “Hey, Switch 2 has no games.” games and I look at this I’m like, dude, there’s a lot of games there. Uh for a system that hasn’t even come out yet. I know a lot of them are like old games ported over, but there’s new games as well. Um people forget about things like that Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S. That’s a new game that is not uh a re-release of an old game. Uh we obviously have, you know, Mario Kart World. Uh we obviously Welcome Tour and Fast Fusion. Uh Delta Runes Chapter 3 and 4. So there are some new games, but obviously at launch is usually just filled with a bunch of old games. This is true for uh every launch, but still this looks really cool. Obviously, I don’t know if the section’s going to be this big at my local GameStop or uh you know, at the mall or at Best Buy. I’m kind of curious to run around and just check out the sections just to see how they’re setting it up. But for right now, we don’t have stuff like this. This is very common in Japan to set this up weeks before. Uh it is not as common in the United States. Like you might see a few mentions of Switch 2 out there at retail right now, but you’re not going to see full-on sections up there with a bunch of dummy cases. But I don’t know, it just made me smile looking at it, so I wanted to bring it up because I thought it would be fun. Um, and then our last story actually comes from the Nintendo Today app. Um, let me go ahead and flip on over here. And we’re going to have to get this going like this. And we’re going to have to unmute for you guys so you can hear what’s happening because this is an audio related thing to the actual Nintendo Switch 2 operating system. That is right, Nintendo. has added the ability to find your lost controllers both audio and buzzingwise. Uh, does that mean there’s a little speaker on the Joy-Cons? I don’t know. But what I will say is I am really glad they added this feature in. Look, finding lost controllers isn’t some new fangled like fancy feature. You know, Nintendo systems and other systems have included this before, but I like that it seems to be fairly loud and it’s really buzzing that HD rumble really hard. I assume this will work on all official Nintendo controllers. So, the Joy-Con 2OS and the new Pro Controller 2 probably will have this functionality as well. I’m I’m just happy to have it because, you know, it is easy at times to misplace things, uh, set things aside, you have kids that maybe take it somewhere or you accidentally bumped it or dropped it down the side of a couch or something. It’s just really nice to have this. Uh, and look, I’m glad that it seems to work, at least according to what we’re seeing here. Have to try it in real life and see how uh how well it actually works. But um anyways, we’ll we can test that out on uh the 5th when we do our big live stream. That being said, folks, I want to thank you for tuning in. I am Nathaniel Rob from Nintendo Prime. Man, absolutely wild two videos today. You know, it is what it is. I The news is slamming right now. I kid you not. Even while I’m editing these videos and like recording and everything, there’s probably even more news happening because the Switch 2 news doesn’t stop. And it’s only going to get wilder when we get to June because the day after the system launches, we have Summer GameFest and there’s Xbox showcases and Ubisoft showcases and deolver digital directs. These are all companies that support Nintendo platforms. Oh, and then on top of that, there’s probably a Nintendo Direct in June. June’s going to be absolutely wild. But before we get there, we got to wrap up this month with all the Switch 2 news pre-launch. Thank you guys so much for tuning in. I am Nathaniel Rubble Jans and I’ll catch you in the next video. Heat. Heat.
