well folks we got a lot of exciting news for you today we are going to be going over some brand new footage regarding a Switch 2 game a multiplatform game in Damon X Machina Titan Seon but we’re not done there because Nintendo did drop a massive announcement today for a brand new spin-off game for Splatoon that’s exclusive to the Switch 2 along with details on the actual Splatoon 3 update so that’s really cool and when that update is coming uh yeah there’s some interesting stuff we got to get into with that we also have an update on the battery situation with Switch 2 because Nintendo has now dropped two independent guides on how to fix a potential battery percentage issue that is known to happen with devices that have lithium ion batteries that sit in storage for several months and yes some launch units have been in storage for as much as 8 months because that’s when mass manufacturing began last year that being said there’s other things we got to dive into some little tidbits here and there you guys know what we do around here we bring you the latest on Nintendo Switch 2 and you know what i want to bring you the latest on our sponsor this video is brought to you by Jox who dropped this giant box on me holy crap it doesn’t even fit in the frame there’s so much Switch to accessories in here so let’s go ahead take a look at what we got for these goodies uh we got the uh right into some new gameplay footage I want to remind you we are giving away five copies of Donkey Kong Bonanza right now there’s a link below the sponsor link down in the pinned comment or description to enter absolutely free need to be 18 plus it’s open worldwide all right let’s go ahead and dive in because oh baby we got to first look at this brand new gameplay posted by Marvelous for Damon XM and we got two videos to go over they’re both fairly short so I’m just going to let them play with the full audio and uh we’ll talk about it right after heat heat it’s always nice seeing that Nintendo Switch 2 logo at the end of trailers uh I can’t wait for that to be a more common thing but as I said there was a couple trailers for this the other one is a story trailer that gives us some details that you might want to know heading in especially if maybe you didn’t play the original Damon X Machadus so let’s go ahead and give that one a play for you guys as well how many have sacrificed their lives in pursuit of a sliver of happiness the wish to be with those they love no one can change humanity forever not outers not humans all I want is to destroy this divided world then share its remains equally among those strong enough to survive what are you i will not give in prepare for my fight you will pay for this i knew you couldn’t let it go i never saw you as fool enough to kill an ally the same as you a nonhuman being created by human hands here one’s dead and you feel nothing i fight for myself and no one else i’d be happy to take your lives every last one for a world to stand tall its pillars of rule must remain indestructible oh man again with that Switch 2 logo look guys I’m really excited for it it comes out September 5th 2025 i did play the original on the Nintendo Switch so that’s worth noting as well now we got a couple of small stories I want to dive into before we get to some uh bigger stuff here because we got to go over Splatoon Raiders i was about to say Splatoon 4 for a second but not quite uh first off hey you know how Nintendo said that they do support direct transferring screenshots to your PC not just automatically to your phone via the app well there’s a little bit of information here where it says switch to screenshot transfer to PC you can only do it with the bottom USBC port again this isn’t really like a big deal but for those hoping that maybe oh you know we can maybe go through either USBC port uh that’s not the case so it says while charging has significantly improved with this edition unfortunately seems screenshot transferring is very much the same first noted by Nintendo Life it appears the Switch will display an error message when attempting the transfer via the top port so it’ll say connect the USB to a console PC using the USBC cable just means plug it into the bottom look this isn’t really that big of a deal and you can charge from either port at full rates but still it’s something where it’s showing that there is some limitation with how data transfer works over USBC ports uh but again you can still do it via the bottom one now one thing I just wanted to note and this is something I found pointed out on several Reddit threads and you know what i think Nintendo deserves a little credit for this considering what’s happened in the past we’re looking at the network maintenance information operational status now none of this really matters today but the point is Nintendo’s servers had zero issues at launch uh that’s pretty crazy if you think about it like I know there was a couple faint reports out there about people having some issues getting their copy of Mario Kart World on the ones that were supposed to be included in with the the system i’m not sure what happened there but the actual servers for gameplay uh game downloads everything nothing really seemed to go down at all so uh this is something we thought might happen because it happens when every new system launches i mean it happened when PlayStation 5 launched and Xbox Series it happened when Nintendo Switch launched so like this is a normal thing that when servers get flooded like that they usually can’t handle the load but it does appear Nintendo was prepared for the astronomical amount of people that were trying to connect to their servers day one and over the opening weekend now here’s some crazy stuff nintendo switched to sales we talked about the rumor about the sales on France today we have some numbers for the UK and it is the fastest selling Nintendo system in UK history however not the fastest selling system ever it turns out you know if you pay close attention Nintendo isn’t that big in the UK uh as we go here here says Nintendo Switch 2 becomes the fastest selling system Nintendo system in UK history so let’s read all of this for context so thanks to data from Neielen IQ we have some insight into the initial hardware performance of Switch 2 in the UK the newly released system is the fastest selling Nintendo machine in UK history previously Nintendo 3DS held the record with 113 unit,000 units sold nintendo Switch also out sold the launch of Switch by more than 2:1 the original Switch sold over 80,000 units so 2:1 you’re looking at you know more than that so it’s more than 160,000 units maybe closer to 200,000 units obviously they don’t give the exact number there but we know at least north of 160,000 nintendo Switch 2 is doing well for a Nintendo platform in the UK but it’s behind a few PlayStation consoles if you look at consoles and remove the handhelds from the equation it’s the fourth bestselling console in terms of units behind PS5 PS4 and Xbox Series and the third best ever in terms of revenue behind PS5 and Xbox Series again this is obviously for launch opening weekend sales as pointed out by the game business the UK is one region where it hasn’t been easy for Nintendo while the Wii was the bestselling console overall this worldwide uh in the UK it went to the Xbox 360 also Switch is behind the PS4 in the UK despite being the bestselling console worldwide the past 8 years so noting that even now that like hey PS4 sold better in the UK than Switch so Nintendo doesn’t have um as big of a market going on in the UK so this is mostly just to be like hey while this isn’t the fastest selling system of all time in the UK this is actually really good news for Nintendo in an area where they typically aren’t um you know doing the best now look we got a couple big stories here nintendo with some battery life stuff and well I’ve been talking about it several times splatoon Raiders so let’s go ahead and go over to the Splatoon Raiders one with this 4K video uh look it’s 5 minutes and 30 seconds uh I’m just going to play the whole thing for you guys if you haven’t seen it uh and I’ll give a few comments after uh because I do feel like Nintendo is teasing yes teasing uh something that’s going to be shown in a future Nintendo Direct so let’s go ahead and take a look time oh down well what’s cracking Squid Squad incoming report from the Squid Research Lab without further ado we’re excited to share our latest findings what you just witnessed are signs of the first ever Splatoon spin-off game coming ashore splatoon Raiders playing as a mechanic you’ll go on an adventure in the mysterious Spiralite Islands alongside Deep Cut splatoon Raiders is launching exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 system but research is still underway we’ll report more on our findings when the results are in heat heat heat heat well well an update to the Splatoon 3 game is also coming down the spillway the Splatlands collection which features new weapons from the Barazushi and Embers brands is on its way they’re based on previous weapons but have fresh new looks and of course different subw weapons and specials we’ve identified 30 in total and hope you’ll try them out for yourselves in addition weapons freshness caps will be raised and you can earn new in-game badges plus series weapon power a new stat to dive into is being added to Anarchy Battle series this will track your effectiveness per weapon based on your win loss ratio in battles it will also be used in matchmaking to pitch you against other players with similar stats follow the Squid Research Lab for our latest findings plus Don’t call it a comeback okay you can urchin Underpass from the original Splatoon game returns to the rotation for some fresh splatting on classic turf lastly but not leastly for Nintendo Switch 2 players you’ll notice more detailed visuals and the game will appear smoother in certain locations such as the square in Splatsville and the Grand Festival grounds but no need to fear Nintendo Switch players and Nintendo Switch 2 players will still be able to splat together this free update for Splatoon 3 is scheduled to release June 12th stay tuned for further updates all right so that’s obviously a look at both the Splatoon 3 update that we knew was coming months ago obviously we didn’t have all the exact details like we do now it’s releasing this week on June 12th in a couple of days but more importantly Splatoon Raiders was announced as a Switch 2 exclusive now it’s important to note we don’t actually know uh anything about what kind of game it is it looks maybe more like a single player experience that has some co-op stuff uh we we aren’t really sure it looks like an adventure one thing I do like is they’re experimenting with the Splatoon IP to see if it is a franchise that can have expansions built off it if we think about like Mario and how many spin-offs of that there are look at Zelda there’s been several Zelda successful spin-offs that’s why we keep getting them uh look at stuff like gosh uh Animal Crossing tried some spin-offs with Amiibo Festival didn’t go quite as well but you know Nintendo’s trying to see if there can be an audience to build more off of these IPs on the side so I do like that we’ll have to wait for more information on what Splatoon Raiders is uh I presume it we should see more in a Nintendo Direct because they still haven’t told us what kind of game it is they just sort of teased it and I’m cool with teasers uh obviously all the updates for Splatoon 3 as well look fantastic we’ll probably check that out uh if you’re a member of the channel you can join our member only Discord uh and maybe get some gameplay sessions in with me on Splatoon 3 this upcoming weekend anyways we got to get to our last story and this last story deals with battery problems so look I have my Switch 2 you have your Switch too lots of people have their Switch 2 and the thing with the Switch 2 is there’s been a lot of issues out there dealing with battery life now I want to note the battery life on Switch 2 yeah is not that great in general if you look at the original Nintendo Switch back in 2017 its rated battery life was 2 and 1/2 to 6 and 1/2 hours and the rated battery life of Switch 2 is 2 hours to 6 hours so for something that’s like 10 times more powerful according to Nvidia you’re only losing a half hour of battery life over the original Switch that doesn’t seem too bad the problem is a lot of people are not coming from the original Switch they’re coming from the Switch OLED and the Switch OLED with its shrunken down die ended up being able to get 4 and a half to 9 hours so when you’re coming from the Switch OLED this does feel like a big jump down however if you’re coming from the original Switch it’s basically roughly the same now that’s fine i guess that’s just something we have to deal with at least until revision comes a die shrink whatever that ends up increasing battery life but one thing we need to talk about with this system of course is the fact that there are people getting worse battery life than you’re supposed to and why is that well for those who don’t know uh any electronic device be it a cell phone or a computer or obviously a switch 2 a switch one whatever anything using a lithium ion battery if you let it sit in storage unused for many months at a time sometimes the power management chip will lose track of what the real percentage of your you know battery is it doesn’t mean the battery is cooked or bad but it does mean that the power management chip lost track now we talked in a prior video about a method to fix this where you can drain your system to zero uh let it die recharge it back up to 100 and even doing that one time will sometimes be all you need although in the tech space we usually do it two to three times just to be doubly safe but hey uh one time’s usually enough and that is a legit method but Nintendo has decided to drop documentation now that’s specific to Switch 2 uh and one of them includes a method where you don’t have to do that the other one includes a method that’s extremely similar uh but then also requires several more cycles to fix it whereas what I talked about just letting it actually die might only require one cycle but either way uh I want to get into this because this is important for people that are getting less than two hours of battery life you should be getting more than two hours of battery life playing Mario Kart World i want to be very clear about that two and a half to three sometimes a little more than that is actually normal if you’re getting less than that it’s at least try worth trying the first method the first method we’re going to point out here says the battery charge indicator percentage displays incorrectly and you might not even know that it’s displaying incorrectly that’s the thing so here’s what you need to do to complete these steps confirm that you’re using an adequate powerful AC adapter just use the one that came with your Switch 2 just for simplicity sake other AC adapters can work but please use the one it came with when you’re going to be dealing with something like this uh confirm that your console has the latest system update power off the console and they mean turn it all the way off they don’t mean like put it in sleep mode hold that button down for like 10 15 seconds make sure the system is turned off press and hold the volume up and volume down buttons they’re saying press them at the exact same time and press the power button once to turn the system on you need to do this while holding the volume buttons until the menu for recovery mode appears some people call it maintenance mode but Nintendo officially calls it recovery mode navigating to this menu should reset the battery level meter power off the console again by pressing and holding the power button until it turns off and then power the console back on to monitor the situation and you could usually tell right away if it has uh resolved itself now navigating to recovery mode menu should be enough to reset the battery level meter if you follow the above steps multiple times and the battery continues to display uh remaining battery levels incorrectly the console will need to be sent in for service and it’s really hard to know if uh if it is displaying correctly without just straight up testing it but this isn’t the only method Nintendo suggests i know right here they say “Hey if this doesn’t work uh send it into recovery.” Well Nintendo of Australia also has the method I talked about so in my opinion you should probably try both just to be safe if the first one didn’t do anything but I said the battery charge indicator percentage displays incorrectly on Switch 2 so here is what they say to do and you’ll notice it’s very similar to what I said to do complete these steps ensure the console has the latest system update set all three autosleep modes to never uh this is just assuming you’re not going to play it till it dies right like you set it to never and let the system be on uh it tells you how to set the auto sleep then it says “Connect the AC adapter directly to the console allow the console to charge until the battery is 100% fully charged or until the console has been charging for at least 3 hours leave the console alone and connect to the AC adapter for an additional hour.” Now you might go “Well why is that?” Well if it’s reading the percentage incorrectly you really want to make sure it actually hits 100% uh again if the battery percentage is incorrect it could take that extra time to just make sure it hits 100% all right as we go down here it’ll say “Leave the console alone and connect it to the AC adapter for an additional hour.” This is why we turned off the sleep settings so the console stays on um when an hour has passed disconnect the AC adapter from the console allow the console to display the home menu for approximately 3 to 4 hours the remaining battery life must be depleted as much as possible um once the battery charge is almost depleted like say 1% uh power off the console and leave it alone for at least 30 minutes repeat steps three through six several times the battery charge indicator will improve gradually by repeating the process several times now this is true this is a method of power management retraining uh that you can be done without ever actually having a system die uh however uh I will note that if you just let it actually die and then recharge it all the way to 100% uh sometimes that alone is all you need it doesn’t need to be an overtime thing it can be instantly fixed and there are several examples i’ll show some on screen of people that did this when I suggested it on X that it instantly fix their problem so uh Nintendo’s essentially suggesting the same thing they’re just trying to avoid the suggestion of letting the system die uh because you know there is a risk of battery damage but that battery damage is after way more cycles than just a few uh and I fix it by the way if you guys uh ever you know check out them and and trust them uh they’re like the kings of repair like if you replace a battery in a switch one or a switch two literally they suggest you do this very thing the first time you put the battery in to make sure that the percentages are working correctly so anyways this is a very common thing in tech but again we have two different methods obviously try the first method that doesn’t require draining the system uh and then if that’s not working for you obviously try the second method and if that’s not working for you and you’re still getting really bad battery life like under two hours then you need to contact Nintendo support because you do have a defective battery and defective batteries can happen also this is independent of like the battery bulge issue that can also happen from bad storage over time uh if you have a bulging battery you obviously should contact Nintendo immediately uh and get a replacement uh they will they’ll not have you do it they’ll have you send the system in and they’ll they’ll replace the battery for you and then if they replace the battery you know you’re getting a newer working battery that hasn’t been sitting around for 8 months anyways that’s uh that’s pretty much it this battery issue is going to go away uh the deeper and deeper into the generation we get cuz the deeper into the generation we get we’re not going to be sitting there you know buying 8-month old systems on store shelves you’re going to be buying like one to two-month old systems because that’s what normally happens as a generation goes this is more so a launch issue that exists because Nintendo wanted more stock than ever at launch as Furkawa said chiefly to defeat scalpers and you know what it seems to have worked because I haven’t seen scalpers be very successful at actually selling systems now that it’s launched anyways folks thank you so much for tuning in i am Nathaniel Robbo Chance from Nintendo Prime there will not I repeat not be a live stream tonight because my son has a really late baseball game so I’m not even going to be home until like 10 or 11 at night that being said uh we will be back with the Nintend podcast tomorrow uh that’s really exciting stuff and obviously more video content to come thank you so much for being here we’ll catch you later heat heat
