I Tested the WORST Switch Games on Nintendo Switch 2!

AI-Generated Summary

The Nintendo Switch 2 enhances the performance of select Nintendo Switch 1 games, whether through free or paid patches, with notable improvements in titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. However, many unpatched or notoriously broken games also benefit from the Switch 2’s increased power. Alan Wake Remastered, previously unplayable on Switch 1, now achieves a stable 30 FPS on Switch 2, though its graphics remain unchanged. Batman: Arkham Knight, a notoriously poor-performing Switch 1 title, runs smoother with fewer frame rate drops, albeit with unchanged visuals. Similarly, Vampire and WWE 2K18 see significant performance boosts, with the latter becoming playable despite its previous unplayable state. While these improvements make these games more enjoyable, graphical enhancements from developers would further elevate the experience.

so as you are well aware of certain Nintendo Switch One games got improvements to run on the Nintendo Switch 2 now some of these were via paid patches some of these were via free patches depending on what game it was but select Nintendo Switch One games such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild now look and run substantially better on the Switch 2 than they did on the Switch One but what about games that didn’t get any sort of patches or upgrades for the Nintendo Switch 2 especially some of those broken Nintendo Switch 1 games that were notoriously bad in today’s video I want to take a look at some of the most broken Nintendo Switch 1 games to see if the Nintendo Switch 2 improves the performance of these games and makes them an enjoyable experience make sure you hit that subscribe button if you’re new to the channel and without any further ado let’s check out some crappy Switch One games running on the Switch 2 so the first game we’re going to take a look at is Alan Wake Remastered and this was a game that kind of just came out of nowhere for the Nintendo Switch version of the game it released on other platforms and of course Alan Wakeake is a really great Xbox 360 game now I don’t think many people expected all of the bells and whistles that the other versions of the game got but the Nintendo Switch version was pretty much broken as far as frame rate as far as graphics were concerned it was an unplayable mess and a lot of that stems from the fact that the frame rate pacing was just all over the place you could see some massive dips happening here and there and nothing felt very fluid with the game you definitely felt very disconnected from your gameplay experience because nothing really reacted the way that you would intend for it to react of course the game itself somehow looked worse than the Xbox 360 version but what’s interesting about this game is that this is actually on the backwards compatibility list as not being compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2 so I’m throwing a little bit of a caveat to start things off because evidently there’s some sort of problem with this game and running it on the Nintendo Switch 2 at least according to Nintendo but I mean the problems lie within the game itself trying to hit 30 frames per second and somehow failing miserably throughout the attempt is definitely something to not be celebrated but how does it fare on the Nintendo Switch 2 well I’m happy to say that it actually plays at 30 frames per second now now obviously that’s not ideal for this because other versions run much better but if the Nintendo Switch is the only system you had or have previous or currently with the Nintendo Switch 2 it’s definitely a much better experience now of course the graphics still look the same there’s no sort of upscaling or anything it does look pretty blurry in handheld mode still as well i of course am playing it docked here but the frame rate issues seem to be completely ironed out with the Nintendo Switch 2 and that’s of course because of the fact that it seems like games that were targeting a certain frame rate are now able to achieve that frame rate without a developer having to do anything to make that happen it’s just sort of brute forcing by the Nintendo Switch 2 so I would like to see this game actually get a bit of an update from Remedy just because of the fact that I think uh you know cleaning up the graphics a little bit for the Switch 2 would be kind of like a thank you for supporting this game when it came out because I mean it was just atrocious and now it’s actually a playable experience definitely not the ideal way to play the game only in a pinch should you play the Nintendo Switch version of the game on your Switch 2 but Alan Wake remastered hey you know what improving those frame rates definitely makes for a much more playable experience and maybe it’s a little bit enjoyable now if we could just get a little graphics patch here I think that would be super awesome and like I said it would be kind of a gesture of goodwill to showcase hey you know thanks for buying this when it was broken next up is arguably one of the worst performing games on the Nintendo Switch and that is Batman Arkham Knight i don’t know how you released this game arkham City Arkham Asylum those were super decent you know those were decent playable experiences arkham City I actually played and beat on the Nintendo Switch for some reason even though I’ve beaten it on other platforms i thoroughly enjoyed my time with that in Arkham Asylum arkham Knight however just an absolute mess it seemed like the game was trying to target 30 frames per second but it barely ever hit it especially in the driving scenes it really got down to slideshow style graphics just completely unplayable and they never updated it they never did anything with it it was kind of like well all right this this is as good as we can do so you know thank you for buying this it was to the point of where it was like why even put this game in the collection if it’s going to be so broken and just so unplayable so this is a game that a lot of people have of course been covering because the results are actually pretty decent all things considered it’s still a a a mishmash looking game in terms of graphics and we’ll talk about that in a second but how is it performing on the Switch 2 i mean it is it is better so here is the game running on the Nintendo Switch 2 and it definitely holds its frame rate very very well now the game targets 30 frames per second as it does on all console versions and I would say it achieves it pretty much all the time now especially in the driving sequences which were the most problematic thing essentially for this game like the driving was you couldn’t even control the Batmobile when you were playing this game and now once again it is achieving that 30 frames per second and it’s actually feeling good now I wouldn’t say it looks good like it looks okay passable in docked mode but in handheld mode especially with the larger screen it’s definitely like worse than it was before in terms of just graphical clarity and that’s something that you kind of have to factor in with a lot of these games because these games aren’t getting patches but they’re being put on a larger screen so it’s stretching the screen out a little bit more to fill up that screen so the visual quality is going down a little bit but the frame rate and the frame pacing is a million times better it’s actually a playable game it doesn’t crash or hiccup whenever you run into something i did hear that there were people having crashing issues with this game i haven’t encountered anything granted I just kind of booted it up and drove around and acted like a menace but it’s definitely running a lot better and it’s a lot more of a playable experience this is another game that I would definitely love to see get a graphical update patch and kind of as a sign of goodwill but Arkham Knight running much better on the Switch too next up is a game that nobody has probably thought about in a very long time but it’s a game that I actually enjoyed on other platforms and that is Vampire an action RPG game where you play as a vampire and on the Nintendo Switch One well there was definitely some frame rate issues here once again the frame rate pacing for this was just all over the place it definitely was not very consistent and it impacted the gameplay as you can see here like it’s it’s very choppy when you’re in combat and it didn’t happen all of the time it was something that you know would kind of randomly happen but you know when you’re walking around the city once again things are getting very very choppy and you know I like vampireesque RPG games i actually played this game on the Xbox One and I thought it was really fun and I was kind of looking forward to playing it again on the Switch but the Switch version definitely was a a mess like just to say the least it was absolutely a mess and the frame rate was just atrocious and made it almost an unplayable experience for most people who you know like to play video games that actually run and function the way they are intended but what does the Nintendo Switch 2 version look like well lookucky there what is this smooth frame rate that we have look at this so this is the Nintendo Switch 2 version and it’s a hell of a lot better you know um I think it’s running much smoother i actually haven’t had any sort of frame rate hiccups or issues even when you’re like doing special attacks and stuff like that multiple characters on the screen no sorts of issues whatsoever now graphically speaking it is still pretty blurry especially much like Arkham Knight once again in handheld mode it it that stretch screen is just making the blur look a lot worse but I think in docked mode it actually looks all rightish I would say you know if this is a game that you can find for like $10 and you don’t own another platform I think this might actually be worth picking up i know they did a physical version and a digital version of this game as well but you could see like moving throughout the towns and stuff like that like there’s there’s nothing like no more hiccups and stuff so the Switch 2 is essentially allowing certain Switch One games that were either uncapped or targeting a certain frame rate that did not achieve it to now achieve those frame rates in certain situations so I would say Vampire is actually one of the bigger surprises for me and like I said you know this is a game that I mean probably probably nobody remembers probably nobody you know has thought of this game in quite a while but if you’re a fan of like kind of different action RPG games with like a gothic setting or stuff like that I think Vampire might be worth checking out on the Switch 2 especially if you could find it on discount or something like that cuz they have definitely fixed the frame rate issues and it’s a very playable game now and that’s a good thing for this game and I saved the best for last this game gave me an aneurysm this game was the most disgusting thing and and the problem is I paid full price for it and it did not work we of course are talking about WWE 2K18 you do a six-man tag match this is what you get this is premium performance for this version of the game and it was disgusting it was the only wrestling game on the Switch at the time i was so excited for it i was like “Finally we get a a wrestling game on the go so this is going to be awesome i’m going to play it at work and this is the [ย __ย ] that we got this game actually received three patches after the fact and nothing ever perfor improved the performance if you did anything beyond a oneon-one game it was unplayable this of course is the game that introduced the classic meme on the channel of “Oh my god it’s Stevie Richards.” Because Stevie Richards was in my video of course of WWE ECW pretty WCW every freaking wrestling company ever but I was this was the one of the most disappointing games ever for me and I honestly felt like this was one of the worst games ever just unplayable the controls were completely unresponsive because of this frame rate and you can literally count the frames as you’re playing it like single digits easily the game hardly ever managed to eclipse double digits or anything like that and it was such a damn shame because so many people got burned by this it never got fixed and then this was the only WWE 2K game that ever came out on the Nintendo Switch now of course WWE 2K25 has been confirmed for the Switch 2 but if you wanted to play WWE 2K games this is what you had on the Switch One and technically as it stands right now this is what you have on the Switch 2 so there’s no way there’s no way the Nintendo Switch 2 fixes this game right like this is unfixable this is unplayable this is unachievable to make it a decent running game and holy crap are you kidding me i booted this game up and I wanted to punch everything and stab everyone around me i was like I I couldn’t believe it i could not believe and of course the online servers are gone now so I can’t download any created wrestlers or play with people online but all of a sudden I can do a six-man TLC match and it works and it hits 30 frames per second and it never really dips or anything like that it’s completely playable now is it great no like far from it i had a blast trying to figure out these controls i am Rhino so you’re going to see me getting my ass kicked a lot in this footage but I was absolutely flabbergasted that this worked and I was so mad at the same time because it’s like what did you do how did you make this game so poorly that you could not achieve 30 frames per second when there’s PSP games that were WWE you know Smackdown versus Raw which is you know what it was at the time for the yearly releases and then all of a sudden the Switch 2 just says “Hey you know what we’re going to make this run better.” I don’t ever expect a patch for this or an update for this but it is very interesting and very indicative of how the Switch 2 backwards compatibility works with the Switch One games because honestly I feel like this is such a treasure trove of information because there are so many different games to try that substantial frame rate issues either because of the fact that you know the engine that was used for the game just didn’t work well on the Nintendo Switch or the developers just kind of pumped the game out there and didn’t really care about the quality they had to meet deadlines and stuff like that but I think this is something that a lot of people are going to be covering for a very long time because there are so many games that you can think of that either have an uncapped frame rate or a frame rate that the Switch one wasn’t able to achieve that was being targeted that can definitely you know kind of shine a light as far as how the Switch 2 is handling this stuff and maybe some of these games would see we’ll see updates like I said I would love to see an update for Arkham Knight and Alan Wake remastered but yes The Prodigal Son the crappiest game ever on the Nintendo Switch One the game that did not function as a video game now works on the Nintendo Switch too but don’t buy it i don’t even think you can buy it anymore you know um it’s completely off of the eShop you could probably pick up a physical copy but you have to download it anyways just wait until WWE 2K25 comes out or 2K26 i don’t know if they’re just going to wait till next year anyways guys that was a look at some of the games that I have in my library if you could think of any other games that you would like to see me check out let me know in the comments down below like I said there’s going to be so many people covering all these different games you know I don’t want to cross streams too much with that sort of stuff but yeah let me know what you think of this what games have you tried out and that you were impressed with the performance updates of them and as always thank you for checking out this video if you’re new to the channel be sure to hit that subscribe button be sure to like comment and share hit the bell as well and as always I’ll catch you guys on the next one
