My body is ready for switch two. Can’t wait much longer. What about you? About you. Standing in line just to hear something new. Nintendo, come on. Give us a clue. Oh, baby. Today’s the day. I am going to have a Nintendo Switch 2 in my hands at 11:00 p.m. Central tonight. Now, I can’t actually open it because I have to come home and then do an unboxing video and then I actually get to touch it and then I got to do system transfer and get everything set up for tomorrow’s not just unboxing video but also our 8 hour live stream event. There’s so much going on with Switch 2 and that includes the news. Did you think we weren’t going to have Switch 2 news on, you know, the day? Well, I guess the morning, the afternoon, whatever before it comes out. Technically, Switch 2 launches tomorrow. But for those of us going to midnight launch experiences, some of us will actually have it today. And believe it or not, hey, people in Japan, people out in Australia, the other half of the globe, they probably already have their Switch 2 by the time this video comes out. So half the world’s already out there gaming and having fun. Well, the rest of us are waiting for tonight. Ah, it’s always a good time to be here with you guys talking about Switch Shoe News. We do have one sad little negative story about Switch 2 and something Nintendo’s doing that I just I find to be kind of draconian, I got to admit, and it reminds me of what they used to do 8 years ago. But besides that, we have a bunch of positive stories. We have our first look at the eShop and a bunch of stuff like that coming from Video Game Chronicle. We have other stories out there about games, new games getting updates that we weren’t aware of. We now have all the information on how Fortnite runs on Nintendo Switch 2 and just more. So, I’m really excited about this because guys, it is literally the day many of us are getting Switched to and then tomorrow everyone else who pre-ordered will get it. All right, let’s go ahead and dive into this first story. I have to remind you we’re giving away five copies of Donkey Kong Bonanza. In order to enter that giveaway, all you have to do is go and click on the link down in the description or the pinned comment. I wish everyone luck and let’s get the negative news out of the way because I want to end on a positive note because heck, later today I’m going to be live streaming from GameStop. So, I I want to be in a good mood at the end of this video, but we do have to start with the negative, and that is this account called Today News. You have seen me use this account several times in my videos over the last few weeks, sharing updates from the Nintendo Today app. And unfortunately, due to copyright takedowns from Nintendo, this account will no longer be able to post content from newspost. We’ll still post when new content is available, but you’ll need to view the content itself within the app. iOS users can tap our links to open the app directly. And the unfortunate part with this is Nintendo taking the stance that, hey, you know what? We really uh don’t want anyone even recording things. We we’ve had things about things getting recorded and being a problem. Now we’re uh hey, you can’t even share it on social media consistently. Little weird. Now, to note, Nintendo has not issued any copyright strikes or anything to my YouTube channel. Nintendo used to have rules on YouTube 8 years ago that we could not use gameplay content or trailers in our content and then they change those rules and they allow it. But not I guess if you’re posting on X, they’re going to come after you and copyright and take down all your videos. I don’t really understand what Nintendo’s problem is with people sharing stuff off the Nintendo today app. All it really does is further advertise your products and your games. And I understand Nintendo is trying to push people over, right? They’re trying to get people all up on the Nintendo Today app. But let’s just be honest, all these videos are coming to the internet one way or another. Whether it’s through Reddit, whether it’s through X, whether it’s through Vimeo, or many other different ways. All the videos are going to end up on the internet. So why not just let fans do it in a more convenient way? And maybe Nintendo, you should just post them up yourself. You know, that would solve all these problems if you would not make the videos exclusive to Nintendo today. or maybe they hit on Nintendo today, then an hour later you post them up on your social media. I understand why you’re creating that separation and why you want people to use the Nintendo Today app. But I just want to note that you shouldn’t be punishing fans for sharing your stuff because they’re happy about it, right? Doesn’t make sense to me, but what are we going to do? Next up, we get our first look at the Switch to eShop and menus courtesy of Video Game Chronicle. And I am going to let the video play for you guys because I want to make sure they get full credit and get to advertise their Patreon and stuff like that because again, we only have this grade of footage right now at this time due to Video Game Chronicles. So, let’s go ahead and head over and get our first look at this stuff and let’s go ahead and well hit play on this video that is in 4K supported by Patreon. Check out patreon.com/videamechronicle for more podcasts, ad free browsing, and extra content. Thank you for your support. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Now, obviously, uh things are uh pretty smooth. I mean, when you compare it, especially to the Nintendo Switch, all of that was much smoother and quicker and faster. Uh I I could argue there’s aspects of it that aren’t quite as smooth as I would like them to be or quite as quick, but I have to admit, uh it’s good enough, right? that that’s sort of the thing is yeah, it’s not perfect. My phone even has some lag sometimes and I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and every now and then it gets kind of laggy out of nowhere. So, I got to be honest, it’s smooth enough, right? This is what I mean by things are good enough. Uh, again, not perfect, but a hell of a lot better than what the heck we were dealing with on Switch. You know what also is a hell of a lot better than what we were dealing with on Switch? Fortnite. Oh my gosh. Uh, Fortnite. Most people consider it near unplayable on Switch, but believe it or not, millions of people actually do play Fortnite on Switch, including in my house, all my kids and my fiance all play Fortnite on Switch. And to them, it’s playable, and that’s fine. Uh, I used to play games at sub 30 FPS as well growing up in the ‘9s. So, I get it. A game could still be playable, even if it’s not ideal. But that doesn’t mean that it’s a good experience. And it appears on Switch 2, we are getting a really good experience all the way up to 2K resolution. Going in here, I have a translation from Nintendo and it says stable 60 fps. So that kind of means like almost a near locked 60 fps, 900p and handheld, which is totally fine on a 1080p screen. and 2K and docked, longer draw distance, texture, shadow, and water improvements, clothing physics, game chat integration, which every game technically has, although maybe they’ve integrated it directly into their own voice chat. I have no idea. They have a replay system in there, and mouse mode support is coming. Now, I said coming July 7th. That’s it. It’s a mistransation. Uh, it’s actually going to be here June 7th. So, we’re talking about this weekend, right? It’s going to be coming over the next few days. Um, so yeah, it’s just a it’s just a a translation error. Uh, looking at the original here. So anyways, the point is I’m really really excited about uh this. I do think that this is a game that gets played a lot in my house. I might finally play it more on Switch. I do play it on PC, but it’s going to be nice in to go situations up in my bedroom where I’m not lugging my computer around, you know, to be able to have a very good experience on the go. Uh, being able to quickly switch to mouse mode. Uh clicking heads is going to be fun. Uh I know the uh the JoyCons might not be the best mouses in the world, but if it supports Bluetooth mice or any sort of uh you know wired mouse as well, like I put in the top USBC port, I will be rocking it in mobile and tabletop. So I’m really happy about that. You know what I’m also happy about? Some updates that we are learning about Switch today that include the screenshot section. Uh Nintendo Switch 2 allows you to save up to 30,000 screenshots. That’s a massive boost over Switch One. As you scroll down here, you’ll see it appears Nintendo Switch album outlet has a far higher screenshot and video storage limit than Switch. According to the official Nintendo website, you can save up to 15,000 screenshots in system memory and 15,000 screenshots on a micro SD Express card. For videos, you can save up to 1,500 videos in the system memory and 5,000 videos on the micro SD Express card. That means if you have a micro SD Express card, you can save up to 30,000 screenshots and 6,500 videos across both the system memory and the card. Uh, and this is obviously you needing to use the latest firmware in 20.1.1, which is available to download for Switch 2 right now. Uh, if you’re on a firmware version that’s below that, you can only save up to a,000 screenshots and 100 videos. So, again, this is a really, really big boost. It’s also confirmed that it’s only 30 seconds of gameplay capture, which is exactly like it is on Switch One. But, it’s just really cool to see that. And I want to make sure we get into uh the updates here specifically because look uh the update is really really important to go over because this update will drop today. Some stuff applies to Switch but most of this is about Switch 2. So let’s go. Nintendo Switch 2 day 20.1.1 update is now out with the patch notes. Here we go. It enables the use of Nintendo Switch software. So your backwards compatibility. Uh it enables Nintendo Switch online. It enables game chat, sharing news, transferring all uh virtual game cards because that didn’t work on Switch 2 without this update. Nintendo eShop game news uploaded screenshots and videos to the server and linkage with smartphone apps. Nintendo parental controls uh and the Switch app. You will need the Switch app to view screenshots and videos uploaded to the server. During the initial Nintendo Switch to setup, you will be prompted to update your system, which is pretty normal uh on setup of anything. But yeah, obviously you notice here just further confirmation, it’s not a brick without it. You can still play Switch 2 games. It’s just it’s an older operating system and even like the current one on Switch with if you go back to October of last year, you don’t have virtual game cards and stuff. So yeah, this is obvious that like you know it just has an older firmware that does work with Switch games, but a lot of other features were still being worked on and are now ready for prime time. Now, one thing that did get updated today is the Switch Online N64 app to version 4.0. It allows you to remap controls for each game even on Switch. And then obviously you get your rewind support and your CRT filter on Switch 2 along with the remap controls. Again, this is something we knew was coming and obviously we expected it to be on day one. This is technically a little bit before that in the United States, but we have to remember that uh the system is literally out in some countries. So, it is day one. Uh next up, we have multiple Switch games getting updates for preparation for Switch 2. Uh and this stuff’s a little a little interesting when you look in here. So, some of these updates are going to be for Switch One as well, but like ARMS is an example here. You’re get visually optimized for Switch 2 with high resolution TVs for improved image quality. So, they don’t tell you what the resolution is, just that it’s higher. Uh, you’re going to get optimized frame rate as well for smoother movement. Uh, you’re also going to get HDR support. Uh, so that’s pretty cool. For Game Builder Garage, basically the same thing except you get the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls for up to eight Joy-Con 2 can be used at once. So otherwise you get the you just improved processing speed and stuff like that from having a faster system. Big brain academy here or big brain academy brain vers brain I guess I should say. You get the party mode content can be played up to four people now and the user can host a game share session. Uh you see the new Super Mario Bros. Use deluxe. Uh you’re seeing a visual upgrade there. Now there are some of these again that get into Switch one updates. I swear we are going to get to some of those. Obviously, we see the updates for Breath of the Wild uh which include uh Portuguese uh and Brazilian uh you know system language settings there and several other issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience. Uh they also added support again on the Nintendo Switch as well for the Portuguese aka Brazil language uh and address some issues there as well. Um now Links Awakening is an example. Uh they have visually optimized and obviously frame rate optimized HDR added as well. Mario Odyssey. You see HDR added and visual optimizations. And they added support for game share, so two players can play with one controlling Mario while controlling Cappy, which is something you can do locally, but now you can do it uh via Switch 2 uh with someone on a different system. Then you have Echoes of Wisdom. And this one’s really interesting because there’s actually an update on Switch about this that kind of took people by surprise. So, first off, they added a feature to display only favored echoes on a list of echoes after 30 or more echoes have been learned. Visuals have been optimized. HDR. Uh obviously they fixed various issues for a smoother gameplay experience. Probably got rid of all the hitches. Um and the big thing is they added that display to uh you know to show echoes. And we have a little bit of footage of this from Game Explain uh to check out. I just just kind of want to show how it works quick. Uh again, not trying to like you know uh step any toes here, but I’m really excited about that new feature. Um so let’s go ahead and get to more updates here. Uh obviously Tears of the Kingdom has the same like Brazil uh language support uh and they added support for Siden, Tullen, Yobu, and Riu on Switch and Switch 2 of course and several other issues cleaned up. Clubhouse games again we already know the game share stuff, Korean language added. Captain Toad Treasure Tracker um you know includes visual optimizations, HDR uh and game share support. Uh Super Mario uh Bros 3D World, Bowser’s Fury obviously added game share support as well. HDR frame rate optimization and visuals. Um, as you see here, this is how to update 3D Allstars as well. Several adjustments have been made to improve gameplay on Switch 2. So, that was one we didn’t know was going to get an update. Xen Chronicles 3 coming in with updates that improve gameplay on Switch 2. So, didn’t know that one was happening either. They didn’t pre-announce that. Pikmin 3 Deluxe as well. Uh, they had to fix an issue that occurs when Switch 2 where the entire screen flickers during scenes, some scenes in the game such as when a day starts and ends. Uh, this is just a kind of band-aid fix. They’re going to be releasing an update in the near future that will get rid of it entirely, but they kind of put a band-aid fix in. Uh, Super Mario Bros. Wonder as well has several adjustments made to improve gameplay on Switch 2. Uh, let’s see here. Oops. I’m trying to go to the next image here. Uh, then we have Kirby Star Allies made several adjustments have been made to improve gameplay on Switch 2. Uh, so that’s pretty cool. And then the last one here is Kirby’s Dream Buffet have had adjustments as well. So, again, this is one of those things where, you know, some of this stuff was not pre-announced by Nintendo, and it just kind of shows they’re going to keep doing their thing. Uh, one thing I wanted to talk about just briefly, we’re not going to really play the audio for it, but, um, the Nintendo Switch 2 was featured on the, you know, today’s show this morning, uh, which is really, really cool. And some of my friends appeared in the video, which is one of the reasons why I want to show it. Um, as as I press play here, you know, we can kind of skip around. Uh, you can see the event going on. Uh, this is kind of cool. This is Alex CND right there. I I recognize him. This is Chicken Dog. He’s the first person at Nintendo New York. He’s been waiting for two months for a Nintendo Switch 2. Um, so that’s pretty cool. And I’m just kind of going forward here and looking in the in the video. There was uh a bunch of people there. I know that uh my friend uh this is Chicken Dog here being being interviewed. Uh there’s CND passing the torch cuz he was the person to first get it at Nintendo New York uh for Switch. and a couple other uh launches throughout the Switch generation. And uh there was one other piece of footage in here, I guess, that showed my friend Mason Conrad, who does some of the thumbnail work. It just kind of has him in the background. Not really doing anything too crazy, but it was nice just to see him in the footage. If I could find a still stop of it. Again, I I don’t want to sit here and waste too much time because this is more of like a personal thing, but um anyways, uh yeah, I’m just really happy to see Switch 2 getting so much attention from mainstream media. Now, uh, next up, we actually have a deep dive for, well, No Man’s Sky. We did not know No Man’s Sky was getting a big update, and it is getting a big update with this switch to Deep Dive, Peggy 12. It’s always so exciting to get our hands on a new platform. Our latest update for No Man’s Sky, it’s called Beacon, and it adds Nintendo Switch 2 support at launch. For the last year, we’ve had this little secret room hiding some dev kits. With the original Switch, we were pushing right at the edge of what was possible. No Man’s Sky on Switch 2 is is just a huge leap forward. The extra horsepower, it allows us to add full multiplayer for the first time on Switch 2. Cross save and crossplay are there from day one. allowing players a seamless experience across devices. We’ve massively pushed the density and level of detail out. We’re rendering significantly more than before at a much higher resolution and also an increased frame rate. Our latest update, Beacon, it adds these huge dense robot towns. You can upgrade the settlements. Each inhabitant has their own little backstory. This just wasn’t possible before and is new for Switch 2. On the original Switch, we were we were maybe the only developer to support FSR. It was real technical wizardry. We’re building on this. On Switch 2, the game looks incredibly sharp and high-res. We’ve upped texture density across the board and increased resolution significantly in both handheld and TV mode. The UI is super crisp. We support touchscreen, gyro controls, cross save, multiplayer, just so many little touches that make No Man’s Sky such a natural fit on handheld. From day one, new players are benefiting from nine years of updates, just tons of huge additions. We’ve been working on this for for over a year. I’m super proud of what the team has achieved. Our Switch 2 edition is just another free update for existing players. We can’t wait for you to see it for [Music] yourself. Obviously, the coolest thing being there that this is an absolutely free update. That’s what we like to hear. They’re not making people reby the game. Um, and then the last thing we have is just somebody actually uh physically broke down the Nintendo Switch 2. They’ve they’ve tearing it apart. And we’re going to go ahead and take a look at this. We’re just going to kind of skim through the video because again, it’s like 17 minutes long and most of it is just, you know, time-lapses of the process here. So, uh, this is pretty cool. As we uh scroll down here, they’re taking out the screws. And one of the one of the things that’s notable is that some of the screws to take off the back panel are unfortunately behind these stickers. I never like when companies put the screws like that behind the stickers. Uh thankfully, there’s already companies like selling replacement stickers because people are clearly going to break these stickers if they ever have to do repair work. Um and you’re going to want to still return it to a customer or whoever or you’re doing self repair, you might still want to make it look like it originally did. So, yeah, there are backup stickers sold out there. But it’s I hate when companies do this. Um, but what are you going to do? Uh, it’s interesting what it looks like though once the sticker’s off. Uh, so we we’ll skip here till the sticker gets off here. Um, there’s a section right here. So, this looks This is interesting. You can see you can basically see the magnets. If you’ve ever seen some magnets before, I’ve seen magnets just like this. You can basically see the magnets just sitting there, which is pretty cool. Um, and yeah, I mean it looks all industrial because, you know, it’s usually covered with a sticker. Uh, he does the same thing to the other side. There’s some plastic clips you have to push in. So, here’s the back plate. Uh, looks pretty bog standard. Very similar to switch. Obviously, a little bit of a different orientation and some different wires being ran, but you know, pretty basic there. Um, and then we uh scroll forward here and he gets it off. And then there’s a look at what it looks like once it’s off. You have your battery here, your fan, your giant heat pipe going up to a fin stack here, your card reader, USBC top and bottom, all of that. So, uh, that’s pretty cool. Uh, and then he goes ahead and removes the heat pipe. Now you can see what it looks like without the heat pipe. And now he’s about to take off some of these protective shields. Uh, what I really like about this video is he does this really cool thing that I wasn’t expecting, but maybe I should have. I’ve just never seen his content. He’s showing the thermal paste there. Um, as he’s ripping off all the heat shields and protective layers, showing the T239 there, he does this thing where he goes in and zooms in. So, he’s zooming in here on like all the components, which is what a lot of tech heads are really interested in. They want to look up each of these individual parts and see who they’re manufactured by and, you know, uh, what their capabilities are and what the chipsets do. Uh, so for for tech head nerds, this is like a really really good watch. Uh, I would go ahead and link to this down below so you guys can go ahead and check it out for yourself. Uh, but I do think that this is just a really, really neat look. Uh, he doesn’t take the screen off. He does note something at the end he discovered while taking it apart. He says, you know, um, the screen has a film from the factory, which is something we already knew. Uh, both thermal paste are red and gray. They’re the same ones as the original Switch. And this means that in a year and a half, the gray one will probably almost dry to a stone, which didn’t really seem to be a problem for thermals on switch one. But it’s just notable that like if you’re someone who likes to repaste your stuff. Yeah. about every year or two years, you’re probably going to want to do that if you care about that, uh, and you’re confident enough to take apart your system. Uh, the JoyCons sit tighter, but they can still be wobbled. Uh, the rear leg stand is obviously too flimsy. Moving it apart from only one edge, there is a high risk of breakage. Again, that is an opinion, of course. I don’t know if that’s going to hold up on personal uh, you know, when I take a look at it, it didn’t look that flimsy, but maybe it is. It is a concern some people had, so I guess we’ll see. Uh, that being said, folks, that’s today’s video. Switch 2 will be in my hands later tonight. Like actually, at the time I’m done recording this, I’m I’m just wrapping up this recording at 11:00 a.m. in 12 hours. Excited, folks. I’ll see you later for our live stream from GameStop. [Music]
