hemisphere – remmus I guess but soon the longest day of 2025 will pass and it will all be
downhill from there and whether that sounds like a good thing or a bad thing depends a lot on your
point of view but I will say this aside from the tech news stuff this week which was really just
a mish mash of in between launches AMD stringing along the AM4 platform with another X3D chip
more rumors about the Nvidia CPU the movies suing AI but I have the distinct feeling that
a lot of people are experiencing higher levels of tension nervousness and general uncertainty
than usual this week so I’m going to lead the show off with a bit of advice if I may take
a deep breath and remind yourself that you don’t have to keep up to date on every minute
of chaos going on in the news and that it is okay to take a step back and give your mind time
to rest with some form of wholesome distraction see I feel better already might as well
have a beer too though just to be safe oh and if I think of any
good advice for you guys too, I’ll let you know cheers on with the tech news ARGB midtower chassis with an innovative dual
chamber design and angled front intake to direct air flow towards components keeping even power-
hungry high-end PC builds cool while maintaining an unobstructed view hey that’s why it’s called
the V380 keep things clean with hidden connector motherboard support keep cool with four included
ARGB fans and multiple radiator mount locations for up to 360 mm AIO’s and have fun building
with plenty of room for cable management and added storage for more on the V380 XLTG ARGB
from Thermaltake click the sponsor link in the video description we begin today with Nvidia who
apparently have another RTX 50 series GPU waiting to disappoint reviewers and gamers everywhere
the RTX 5050 which is of course what the RTX 5060 should have been called which was what the RTX
5070 should have been called and so on recursively up through the stack nvidia at the very least has
apparently recognized what “bare minimum” means in 2025 when it comes to VRAM as according to leaks
from Momomo_US on Twitter the RTX 5050 will still come with 8 GB of memory like the 5060 but lest
it overtake that GPU’s lofty test scores the 5050 will come with slower VRAM GDDR6 instead of the
GDDR7 that was previously rumored that will mean a lot less bandwidth about 30% less give or take
depending on the final configuration along with a core count of 2560, cut down from the 5060’s
3840. the RTX 5050 is rumored to launch in July though no pricing information has come to light as
of yet it’s a safe bet that it will be less than $300 but how much less than $300 would it have
to be to make it a reasonable value in 2025 i ask this question in all sincerity – $200? 180
bucks? we’ve been waiting for something better for entry-level gaming for quite some time and
while I have close to zero hope that Nvidia will make a consumerfriendly choice on the final
price it’s likely that once it launches the RTX 5050 will be the only option outside of the
used market for a current gen card in this price range clearing out the remaining Nvidia news on
Tuesday these were discovered geekbench 6.2.2 to online database test results for a processor
labeled Nvidia N1X which some speculate is an Nvidia N1X processor or SOC or “SuperChip” if
you really want to take team Green’s marketing down balls deep like TechPowerUp did – to sum up
the N1X is an ARM based CPU with 20 logical cores that is apparently up and running in an HP8E83
prototype notebook which is running Ubuntu 24 to achieve this Geekbench result with both single
thread and multi-thread scores right up there with some of the best in the industry right now
being an SOC these chips will also have integrated graphics with video cards.com speculating a CUDA
core count range similar to an RTX 5070 if the N1X has similar specs to Nvidia’s GB10 there’s also a
rumored N1 non-X version of the SOC though video cards and TPU disagree on what products these will
go into the N1X might go into desktops or just higher-end laptops while the N1 is likely destined
for a range of portable devices including laptops Chromebooks tablets and handhelds nvidia has been
very successful on the server and enterprise side of things with their ARM based processors so it
will be very interesting to see how quickly they can pick up market share once notebooks based on
their chips enter the mass market without the need for CPUs from Intel or AMD speaking of AMD let’s
talk about them next the platform that just won’t die am4 saw yet another new CPU go up for sale
in its ninth year of life which is really quite remarkable for platform longevity given that
Intel still can’t go more than one or two CPU launches before needing their socket changed it’s
like a newborn or something like that the new CPU is the Ryzen 5 5500X3D though which was rumored
almost a year ago but AMD just added to their website back on June 5th now per the regional
availability spec it seems to be destined for the Latin American market though that doesn’t always
mean it won’t be available elsewhere as the name infers though this is a six core with specs almost
identical to the short-lived MicroEnter exclusive 5600X3D apart from the frequency which peaks at 4
GHz for the 5500 instead of 4.4 no listings have appeared either as of yet meaning the price
is also a mystery though it will have to be sub $200 given other options on the market like
the 7600X and 9600X given how long AM4 has been around though it’s a sure bet that there are PCs
out there that could get a nice boost particularly in gaming by dropping one of these new six cores
in as an upgrade if the price is right of course speaking of the price is right let’s move on to
our very own showcase showdown which we call tech briefs which move very quickly so you can’t tell
how dated that reference was intel continues to seem poised to shake up the GPU market which they
will totally do any minute now because the B770 is definitely here and by any minute now I mean
Q4 the latest rumored launch date for the B770 and by definitely I mean maybe and by here I mean
PCI SIG has listed a new hardware ID that is like probably an ARC B770 but might be an ARC Pro card
but most notably it has a PCIe 5.0 0x6 interface which they would only use for a higher end card so
make a few assumptions and then yes poised Intel Arc remains and I’m sure they’ll strike and save
all of us from Radeon and GeForce any minute now any minute speaking of a well-timed strike Valve
launched a new Steam beta on Thursday that works natively with Apple Silicon without the need
for the Rosetta 2 translation software that was previously required this should mean better native
Mac gaming performance and Valve also timed this well since Rosetta 2 is being deprecated in future
Mac OS versions another update to Steam yesterday now lets users search games by accessibility
features which is great for anyone with a disability of course but also just a helpful tool
in general i know a lot of parents would prefer games with both adjustable difficulty and a save
anytime function and now you can apply a search filter for those speaking of things that would be
nice to filter out AI and I’m not a universal AI hater or anything but it’s pretty blatant how many
AI startups treated the internet as a free-for-all training ground with little or no respect for
personal or corporate IP ownership and while this isn’t the first lawsuit of this kind it is the
first levied by a heavyhitting media corporation disney and Universal are suing Midjourney for you
know speaking of the crappy side of AI slop AMD has been hard at work copying Nvidia’s progress
in data center AI hardware and at their Advancing AI event this week they disclosed the board power
limit for their top-end MI355X accelerator 1,400 watts peak per module and these get installed
into data centers by the hundreds and thousands that’s a lot of power and while it’s not quite
as efficient as Nvidia’s competing alternative these are still selling like hotcakes from my
understanding all for the good of AI though which means it’s definitely worth it speaking of
the value of things how much money would you pay for an RTX 5090? what if it was plated with 6.5
gram of gold? more than 20 grand you say? well that’s what the Asus ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090
Dhahab Edition is selling for on eBay seems like a sound investment to me the price is of course
being driven up by the gold which we all naturally lust after as well as the exclusivity of a limited
edition variant of an already incredibly difficult to find GPU which is currently the best gaming
option that you can get it’s not even the highest clocked aftermarket 5090 but since the majority of
them were shipped to the Middle East for sale the gold 5090 is even scarcer in the rest of the world
the MSRP is supposed to be about $6,800 but on eBay they’re being priced as high as $22,990 and
that is too rich for my blood so there you have it guys tech news for the week and if you liked
it click that like button or leave me a comment
