We’ve got a lot of new Nintendo Switch 2 news and information to go over in today’s video. Some of which being great news for those actually still on the hunt for this console in case you missed out on all of the pre-order waves so far and you were somebody who’s trying to pick one up day one. Have a brief update from Best Buy. It does look like they will have some instore inventory. Although they did take down this post later on, but I would say that this was just something that went up early and we will see them bring it back in the near future. So Best Buy is now looking like a potential place that you might want to go to right at midnight launch even potentially. So we’ll walk through those exact details. We have some exciting updates around the chipset, the T239 that is found within the Nintendo Switch 2 that we do know is confirmed to be the chipset of the console, but some architecture updates that have been spotted. uh and potentially Nintendo utilizing some much more modern features from the 40 series Nvidia GPUs, not the 30 series like what is AMP here which is this is primarily based around but more backing up that idea that this is truly a custombuilt SOC and there’s really nothing one to one like it on the market and we might get some extra benefits from it having some more modern architecture. We also now know of a new battery mode that is in the Nintendo Switch 2 that we will briefly cover. Uh a lock screen setup that you can do for your console. Some quick good news to go over for physical collectors in this generation because Limited Run has announced that they will be not doing game key cards for their numbered releases, which we were afraid they may actually opt for game key cards at one point in time. Uh there’s also an interesting update around Cyberpunk 2077 and actually the developers mentioning what kind of DLSS Nintendo Switch 2 is using in plain text. Uh then we have to talk about briefly at the end of the video just a crazy deal that you’ll probably want to take advantage of if you’re interested in getting the Switch 2 version of Hogwarts Legacy at all because you can truly get it for a steal of the price. So we’re going to break down all this information. Before we do, make sure you like, subscribe, and turn on your bell notification to join Sun Nation if you’re new here. And huge congratulations to Dan Girdler for winning the giveaway of the Nintendo Switch 2 console. I sincerely appreciate you all subscribing to the channel. We are well over 90,000 subscribers now. And we’re marching closer each and every day to that 100K mark, which will be surreal when we get there. So, big thank you for me to all of you who choose to watch these videos. And with that, I want to first kick off this conversation right over at X, where you can see Warrior 64’s post um which he does mention that this was reverted. But what we care about first is that we had this update go live from Best Buy where it says Nintendo Switch 2 late night store opening Thursday, June 5th at 12:01 a.m. Eastern time. That’s Eastern time across the country from what I can tell. So I am planning on going to my Best Buy at 11:00 p.m. Central time because that’s actually when they or 11:01 I suppose is when they will be opening. If you are Pacific time, you will actually want to show up at 900 p.m. You’ll be getting your console technically the day before uh it actually comes out with quite a few hours to spare, which is pretty cool. So anyway, they have this post here that says, “In addition to fulfilling pre-orders, most stores will have limited inventory of systems, games, and accessories for purchase. Customers will also have the chance for a free Nintendo collectible. Check out our full assortment below. Uh, and you might remember whenever we were looking at leaks and things of uh, retailers having information, there was this uh, a collectible coin that was being floated around that one of the retailers had. And I believe that that was the big box retailer that actually gave the information out or Insider Gaming or whoever ran that initial report uh, got got their hands on some kind of big retailers pre-order type of deal. It was probably Best Buy. Of course, we are seeing the tease of a Nintendo collectible um in this post, but I think this was something that was just not supposed to go live yet, and that is why they pulled it down. But I would definitely watch Best Buy now closely because I do believe that they will update this once again with that finalized confirmation. It’s just that currently whoever made that post go live early had to retract it. But I don’t think it’s because they’re not going to have on hand in store inventory the night of. It’s just because they weren’t supposed to communicate that yet. So, uh, follow all the accounts linked in my description under the how to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 section and and if you’re someone who’s still on the hunt, good luck to you on securing a day one console or shortly there afterwards. Okay, from here we have a pretty cool report from Necroalipe over at Universo Nintendo around the chipset for Nintendo Switch 2 and kind of what we talked about in a previous video, which has to do with the fact that this is a truly custom SOC, the T239. It is not something that fully resembles Ampure and only the 30 series technology from Nvidia, but rather it also has some 40 series elements in there. And this has been backed up further by some Digital Foundry findings which they’ve been a little all over the place with their Switch 2 coverage lately. But nonetheless, um, this is something that may be worth paying attention to. As you can see the following article which reads, “Rumors switch to hardware can rely on features ported from Nvidia’s latest modern architecture. Uh media and power management of components would be inherited for a more modern SOC. It’s already known that the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with an SOC produced by Nvidia T239 and it is based on the AMP much of the Ampear architecture. However, in the most recent episode of the DF Direct weekly program that aired by Digital Foundry on its YouTube channel, a rumor was commented on in which Nvidia worked on adopting two features from the ADA Love Lace architecture to the chipset present in the new Nintendo console, Media Block and Power Gate. Uh, and here’s a brief explanation. So, media block first, what is it? An upgraded component of the chip coming from the ADA Love Lace architecture responsible for processing videos and streaming. The benefits is is it supports more modern formats like AV1 codec allowing for high quality video playback. Processes media faster and more efficiently saving power essential for a handheld console like the Nintendo Switch 2. Then you have power gate. What is it? A power management feature also brought by uh from Ada Love Lace rather that disables the consumption of parts not used by the chip. The benefits is it reduces power consumption increasing battery life. Uh, it maintains performance without sacrifices, making the Nintendo Switch 2 more efficient for gaming and other tasks. If made official, the two additions put the Nintendo Switch 2 in a more modern position compared to what the Ampear architecture could offer without them, especially when it comes to smart energy consumption for a device that is mostly sold for portability. Uh, and yes, that will be a big thing because it does look like this is an 8 nanometer chip at the end of the day. Um, and that is just going to naturally consume more power than something like a 5nanmter. and efficiency features like this are probably going to be uh something that needed to be in there realistically to get a decent battery life out of this thing. And it’s just one of those under the hood things that can be kind of hard to confirm exactly what’s going on there. But uh again, whenever we’re seeing all these comparison videos to like older, you know, downclocked laptop GPU cards, just kind of disregard that stuff for the most part. This is a truly customuilt SoC for Nintendo Switch 2. Uh, and we still really just have to wait and see how the games perform uh when it’s all said and done. And then, uh, shifting gears from there, we do have a new battery mode. Speaking of battery life for the Switch 2, which should just hopefully help keep the battery intact and at a good, healthy, working, regular rate for longer. As you can see this post from Oatmeal Dome, which says, “Switch 2, you can set the console to stop charging when it reaches approximately 90% battery. Doing so helps extend your battery’s lifespan. Batteries gradually lose their charge capacity over time. This is similar to similar to features found on modern smartphones. Um, and you do get kind of another look at the UI here. So, we’ll zoom in on this video just briefly, but you get kind of a look at the different um the settings, navigation, and then uh you do have this stop charging around 90%, which is what uh has been spotted here in terms of, you know, something that can basically just be toggled on to get that much longer of a battery life from your console when it’s all said and done. Uh because whenever it is 100%, that’s just something that it can degrade it quicker. So, stop charging at 90%. I’ll probably turn it on just to extend my own conso’s uh lifespan in terms of battery life and things like that. Nothing revolutionary or gamechanging here, but just a nice little confirmation that we do have. And one thing that was spotted within that video as well, if you look at the um the different settings that are there, uh it looks like Nintendo actually does let you set a pin for your lock screen for the Nintendo Switch 2. So essentially, you can set some kind of pin code that has to be put into the system after it wakes from sleep. Uh, which is nice just to have in case if you have younger kids in the house or anything like that and you’re worried about them, you know, maybe just accidentally deleting games and save files off your console and you just want to have for peace of mind a a four-digit PIN that you have to put in. You could do this kind of via parental controls before. Now it’s just straight up a menu option. Uh, and interestingly on that note too, while we’re talking briefly about operating system and stuff like that, Necroil actually did also point out um that fun fact, the firmware version for Nintendo Switch 2 will follow what is already present on the current Nintendo Switch. In today’s video, however, it’s a superior version to the current one. And he points out that the video today showed a software of 20.1.0 for the Nintendo Switch 2. And today on the Nintendo Switch One, we are on 20.0.1. So essentially uh we are literally starting out on version 20 of this operating system. So when we saw those leaks that we talked about here on the channel that said that the operating system was the same at its core. I it’s literally the same. I mean it’s obviously updated and reworked for the Switch 2. But yes, they are truly using the same Nintendo Switchbased operating system just on a far more capable console when it comes to a power level thing. Uh clearly. So will those themes show up? Well, there was one rumor going around that we didn’t put much stock into, at least I didn’t, out there um that said by version 2.0 or something to that effect that there would be custom themes added in. Well, I think that that absolutely proves that that was not a real source or somebody who had inside information because we’re starting out on version 20 with this firmware. So, here’s hoping by version 21 or whatever Nintendo comes out with, they have some customizable themes and some uh folders that you can put maybe on the main home screen and not under the all software section. Okay, the next piece of information, while we’re talking a lot about game key cards and that whole situation with physical games, there is some good news for physical collectors. Although you will have to go through kind of a third-p partyy company, not Nintendo directly, but you do have Limited Run Games says their numbered physical Switch 2 releases will not be game key cards. Score one for collectors. And you know, this is it goes into a little bit more detail, but all you need to know, Limited Run had already announced a game for Nintendo Switch 2 that was like a collector’s edition that would actually come as a physical game key card. And obviously that raised a lot of red flags. Like the whole point of limited run uh is because physical collectors want that physical edition of their games and they’re potentially paying extra to have that. You don’t want to have the key card as your only option there. uh whenever it comes to that and it does sound like and I’m sure you know some cost maybe get po passed on to the consumer at the end of the day but you’re going to have that option to have all your content on the cartridge from all of Limited Runs big numbered Switch 2 game releases. So again just a quick nice confirmation I wanted to highlight for physical game collectors out there. Um next up we have an interesting note from Cyberpunk 2077’s development team and the version of DLSS it’s running uh for Nintendo Switch 2 essentially. So you have here this article also from Universal Nintendo. Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition goes gold and has finished development on Switch 2. Developer denies that Switch 2 will feature a special version of DLSS, same build as other platforms. And you have developer CD Project Red in an interview with the Dutch portal and OneUp stated that the development of Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 has reached the gold state that it is completed and complies with the quality requirements established by the studio. The developer also commented that they are currently working on an update to be made available on launch day that should feature even more polish in the game. In addition, the studio reported that Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition uses DLSS, but denied the information circulating about a version of the technique adopted to the Nintendo system, stating that the same build of DLSS that is found in other devices equipped with Nvidia cards. Essentially, we saw those patents that Nintendo was kind of patenting their own version of DLSS. it looked like behind the scenes and we didn’t know if they would call it something different internally or anything like that. For example, PlayStation with their PS5 Pro uses a version of AMD’s FSR, which is PSSR for them. Uh they’re kind of rebranding it, making it their own. Nintendo just looks to be using essentially the DLSS tech that is out there from Nvidia according to the Cyberpunk development team anyway. So, that’s kind of an interesting one. I would say that there’s not really any advantage or disadvantage to that. I just think that, you know, Nintendo being a partner with Nvidia, they I guess they didn’t feel the need to kind of rebrand it, bring it in house or make something different about it for the Switch 2 specifically, and rather just DLSS in its current form and how it works was just fine to bring over as is for the Switch 2. Um, okay. This last thing we have to talk about has to do with Hogwarts Legacy and kind of a killer thing that Warner Brothers is doing and hopefully this lasts for a while. There is a steep sale going on on this game for the Switch One version. You might know that Hogwarts Legacy can actually not be upgraded to a Nintendo Switch 2 version. However, unlike what Sega has announced so far for like Sonic X Shadow Generations where it’s like full price and full price, there is a deal where if you own this game digitally, and I just took advantage of this. I actually uh pregoing live purchased this game and you might want to as well on the eShop page. It is $17.99 until May 19th. That is a 70% discount. Okay, here’s the kicker. This game can’t be upgraded. So, why would you want to buy it? Well, if you have the digital game Hogwarts Legacy in your library, that is right, you get an automatic 83% discount on the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of the game that I will be pre-ordering. So, it’s essentially allin. You’re paying 10 bucks. So, the upgrade pricing for the Switch 2 version and you were uh paying $17.99 if you pick it up while it’s on sale for your Switch One digital library. And you’re at $27.99 total for a game that’s going to launch, I believe, at that $60 price point. I think it’s $59.99 for Hogwarts Legacy. I’m not if I’m not mistaken. Yes, it it is because it actually says that crossed out where you can see the 83% sale. So, instead of 60 bucks, $27.99 for a Switch 2 edition of a game. Not a bad pickup in my book. We know this is going to be a physical game key card, so I’m actually happy to pick it up digitally and do it this way. Um, kind of a steal and something you probably want to look into uh if you have a pre-order on this game right now for the physical edition or something like that. You know, maybe look into saving yourself some money and doing it this way. But I can confirm that the talk online around this is accurate because I tested it out myself and it worked 100% for me. I’m hoping that again this stays for a while and if Warner Brothers starts selling a ton of copies at the discounted rate, they might end that sale early. I’m hoping though you have at least till the 19th to take advantage of this for the $17.99 price for the Switch One edition and then spend the 10 extra bucks and get the upgraded edition. So, good move from Warner Brothers there. We’ll see how some other companies from a third party perspective handle, you know, the non-upgradable versions of the Switch 2 games and stuff like that, but too good to pass up in my opinion on this particular one. So, let me know how you feel about all the different stories we talked about today. Will you be trying to potentially secure a day one Nintendo Switch 2 console at Best Buy? Uh, with some launch stock talk now being out there, what do you think about Nvidia’s SoC, the T239 having some more modern features from the later series cards than maybe what people were expecting? The 90% battery mode and pin code. Are you excited about any of that stuff? What do you think about Switch 2 starting out at version 20 of the operating system from Switch One? Will you be picking up any limited run games? And Hogwarts Legacy out there for $27.99 for the Switch 2 edition. Are you going to be somebody that hops into that? Or maybe you already have Hogwarts Legacy right now on your digital library, and will you be taking advantage of the $10 upgrade pricing? So, make sure you share all your thoughts and feelings in the comments down below before you leave, regardless if we agree or disagree. Also, make sure you like, subscribe, turn on your notification bell, and with that, I’ve been Sunbro. You’ve been nation. Thanks so much for watching and I’ll see you guys in the next
