[Music] so PlayStation 6 versus nextG Xbox has begun new PlayStation Plus leak and new PlayStation 5 announcement this week gets another backing those are the stories we’re going to cover today and if video new PS5 announcement this week it gets another backing reading from Games Radar it’s seemingly increasingly likely that Red Dead Redemption fans have something to be excited about as another actor from the series has teased an upcoming announcement of some sort late last week John Marston actor Rob Weedoff broke the internet while streaming Red Dead Redemption as he teased that he’s got such exciting news he can’t currently share whatever it is he suggested we should probably find out soon by the end of this week hopefully sooner definitely before Friday how mysterious obviously everyone immediately began speculating that it could be something Red Dead Redemption related whether that could possibly be a nextG update for Red Dead Redemption 2 a Switch 2 port or something else entirely curiously he also mentioned that he won’t be the only one sharing the news and now Red Dead Redemption 2’s Arthur Morgan actor Roger Clark claims he’s also in the know asked on Twitter if he knows what the Red Dead Redemption news is that Rob mentioned clark simply says yes sharing a gift of a dog giving a smug smile so the highlight here besides having Roger back this story up is also that he accidentally or maybe on purpose revealed that this is seemingly Red Dead Redemption related since the user he responded to was straight up asking about Red Dead Redemption news let’s see how this plays out this week you know it’s not over yet we still have tomorrow cuz he expects it to be revealed before Friday so today or tomorrow something could be announced or maybe as well it could be the near future meaning all the games in the series will be playable on PlayStation 5 PlayStation 4 via the recent remastered collection and classic releases word of the potential release comes from Taiwan where an age rating for the PlayStation 2 title has appeared listing PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 versions in most instances of PlayStation Plus premium leaks this has meant the launch is somewhat imminent so we’ve seen games get listed and launch on PlayStation Plus not long after but we’ve also had situations where games take forever to launch even after they leak a perfect example of that is Resistance: Retribution later this summer we have Twisted Metal 3 and 4 coming to PlayStation Plus Premium in July and the original Resident Evil 2 and 3 coming later in the summer which could be for August or September considering Sony has not really been packing the service with a bunch of classics lately I’m not sure if they would be so kind to release this alongside Twisted Metal 3 and 4 next month for example the last few months it’s been one to two classic games each month so we’ll see if Sony actually drops three next month but you guys let me know if you’re excited to play and tell us that the PlayStation 6 is on the way and that it is pretty much their focus right now hideki Nishino stated “While we cannot share further details at this stage the future of the platform is top of mind we are committed to exploring a new and enhanced way for players to engage with our content and services.” They also revealed that they’re going for this multigenerational approach which they kind of done pretty much this generation so come nextG both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 6 they will continue with this approach where they support both of these platforms this is something a lot of us have already said will be the case even before this reveal or this mention of a multigenerational approach so expect crossgen to be a big factor come nextG for probably a longer period than we’ve seen with the PlayStation 4 that’s Sony now out of nowhere Xbox confirms their nextG plans reading from Push Square in a strange out of nowhere announcement today Xbox has effectively announced its nextG console the confirmation comes courtesy of a video hosted by boss Sarah Bond in which she announced a strategic multi-year agreement with computer chip manufacturer AMD amusingly Sony is also collaborating with the American company on its next console as well the real headline here is that Xbox is effectively confirming its next console will be a PC in various form factors bond said Microsoft is investing in its next generation hardware lineup across console handheld PC cloud and accessories and that it will work with AMD to co-engineer silicon across a portfolio of devices including our next generation Xbox consoles plural in your living room and in your hands she said that the next Microsoft console will not be locked to a single storefront suggesting you’ll be able to run the likes of Steam Epic Games Store Gogg and others on it without compromise bond also mentioned that Xbox is working closely with the Windows team further suggesting that these new devices will effectively be PCs so this was a bit confusing to hear because it sounds like they’re effectively making Xbox branded PCs but it also seems like they’re making another normal Xbox potentially maybe both maybe the video wasn’t very clear on this if they’re really making Xbox as a PC at this point but will also support your existing library as they confirm in the video then I would assume they’d have to emulate your current Xbox consoles on PC and then every game they launch after will essentially just be a PC game going forward we’ll see how this plays out but the clear point here is that the nextG race has begun both Sony and Microsoft have openly shared that they’re focused on their next generation platforms considering reports point to a late 2027 release these initial confirmations in 2025 seem to indicate that more is set to come next year potentially similar to how things went down in 2019 before the launch of the consoles the PlayStation 5
