we gather it has lost its relevance in recent years in part because it never actually became a commercial project now just when Boston Dynamics was written off the company has unveiled a brand new model that is once again ready to compete for the title of the world’s most advanced humanoid so what makes the new Atlas so special firstly Engineers finally abandoned hydraulic actuators in favor of electric motors it made the robot cheaper quieter and lighter but not only that by getting rid of its hydraulics Atlas can now rotate its joints at least 180° Boston Dynamics waved humanik capabilities out the door that other robot developers strive for this is much bigger and more importantly practical in the same Factory where Atlas will soon be tested the robot won’t have to make a
