viwoods AIPaper mini – review as e-reader first, Notebook second

AI-Generated Summary

In this review, the Weiwoods AI Paper Mini is praised for its 8.2-inch E Ink display, which is described as sharp, crisp, and efficient for reading and note-taking. The device is lightweight, well-designed, and features a responsive stylus that enhances the note-taking experience. Key highlights include the Daily Journal feature, which integrates with Google Calendar, and seamless Google Drive syncing for notes and tasks. However, the device has some drawbacks: occasional lag, especially with heavier apps like Storytell, and overly bright display settings in dark environments. Despite these issues, itโ€™s considered one of the best E Ink displays available, excelling in both readability and functionality.

Okay, so in this video I will finally do my review of the Weiwoods AI Paper Mini. So let’s get started by going to my table cam. Here you see we have the VWoods AI Paper Mini in the case that comes with it and also the stylus, the pen that comes with it. And this pen actually is awesome. I think I have never done notes and so on before, but with this pen and the AI paper mini, the note takingaking is so easy to do. So, I really love doing note takingaking now thanks to this pen and the Weiwoods AI paper Mini. But here we have the A ink device itself. Let’s remove it from the case. As you see, 8.2 inch display is actually the perfect size for an ear reader to me, at least when you are home reading and so on and you don’t need to have it with you all the time. So, if you are outside reading in the garden or home inside when reading, this is the perfect size for an air reader. I really love the size 8.2 in display. And as you can see, the build quality on this is perfect. I think it’s very nice designed and it feels like very high quality when holding it and it’s very light to be this size of a display and also even if the display only has karta,000 instead of 1300 I think the display on this device is the best I have ever seen on an air ink. device. It’s so crispy and nice. Uh so, as you can see here, the text is popping out of the display. I think this is so so incredibly sharp and crispy. I have never seen as good display as this AI paper mini has. and it only has Cartra,000 instead of Cartra 1300. I mean that’s kind of amazing. You have some glare and you have some reflections but not as much. Uh you have more glare on other ink readers I have used. And I use this first for reading and second for note takingaking. So this is more important for me for reading than note takingaking. Some drawbacks though is that it could be some lag. Sometimes it could be sluggish. So sometimes when uh going back and forward uh when reading it could take a second sometimes because it’s lagging for some reasons. Maybe the CPU are working on something so it can’t handle it. Uh and especially for swiping sometimes it could be quite laggy. uh that is a huge drawback for the user experience when reading. Uh even if you have these kinds of modes for refresh mode, best display, fast mode, ultra fast mode, you can get some lag with it. I usually use fast mode because that is the best for allound use. But if you have um a more lightweight reading app, this is the storytell uh also book fusion and so on. These are quite heavy apps for reading on air in. So these apps need a better and faster refresh rate and of course a better CPU for reading without lag. But if you have this mode for storytell mode, it works uh quite good at least. You see, it could be a bit laggy when turning pages as you see. But strangely enough, it doesn’t lag when shifting uh to other apps. For example, if you start co-reer here, it starts really fast. You can start a book quite fast. you can go forward in that app very very fast as you see here. So when you are using a lighter um ebook reader app for reading it’s very snappy and fast. So you can see for example here co-reer on weiwood’s AI paper mini works really really great so fast and and snappy has never lagged for me but when you are using larger app as storytell here and then it could be quite laggy when turning pages especially for the swiping and that is a drawback. back for me. Another drawback is that these uh hidden buttons down here is very easy to tap on when reading. So, for example, if you hold here, if you by mistake hold there, then you go um sorry, then you go back to the home display, for example, uh like so. That could be quite easy to do when reading. and that’s uh not so fun when reading. Uh the AI button I never use because I don’t use AI much. It works though. It has a built-in microphone so you can use uh AI with voice commands. And you also have a return button to go back where you were were before. But these buttons you can fortunately turn off in the button lock menu. So if I turn that on here, then these buttons doesn’t work. So now I can read by holding it down here. Uh and I can some I can still read by tapping the display and swiping and so on. Uh so that works. But if you now want to go back to the home display, you need to go up here and turn that off before you can go to the home again like this. And the note takingaking works really really good. Uh I will not do much uh review for uh the note takingaking features but it works. So you can easily take notes and it feels like writing on paper and it sounds like writing on paper. I really love that it works really great for note takingaking. One of the best features are the daily feature. It’s kind of a journal together with a calendar. So you can use this to take notes and write tasks and so on. You can link to papers you have done. So you have if you have a journal or a paper or a document you can link that to a specific day and you can also sync with your Google calendar. So you get all the events from Google calendar here and you can add events to Google calendar also here. That’s really nice. And you can check a 7 day view also. So if I want to take some notes here, I can just uh do that here like so. So now I have two pages for this day. Uh you see some ghosting there but that’s very easy to just do like so to remove the ghosting if you are disturbed by that. I actually typed that wrong. Sorry for that. Uh it should be like this in Swedish. Sorry. Uh but um this is a really nice feature to me. I can also add tasks. So we can write a task uh do video like so. So when I have done that task I can do that. So now when we go to the homepage again you will see the task at the homepage and that it’s marked done. And you can also sync all these to Google Drive. So you can if I click on these it starts sinking. Then it syncs all my notes, all my papers, all my stuff I have done on the Vwoods AI paper mini to Google Drive. And that means that it saves all these in in um file formats that I can read on my iPhone, iPad or whatever I want. So for example, PDF, PNG, GPG. So that’s a huge different from others uh other note takingaking device I have used. It uh syncs in other formats that you can’t use on other devices. But this syncs all these files in a format you can open on other devices. That’s very nifty. And the app store was quite easy to activate after a while. So you just um allows it with your Google credential. So you get the app store. So uh here are the apps I use. I use this mainly for note takingaking and reading. So I haven’t installed any other apps. So, but you can of course because you have the Google Play Store here, it works quite neat. Uh, so that’s also nice. One thing is that you also have mail. So, you can sync your um Gmail for example here. You can sync with other mail uh providers too. So, you can use mail here. So you can uh mail documents and you can uh add documents and you can also send mail and receive mail here. So you can send mail by taking notes by hand and it translate it to transcribes it to real text before it’s sending it. So you can type your mails by drawing by hand with a pencil and then it transcribes everything to real text before it sends it. So that’s kindite kind of neat. So that’s why I haven’t installed Gmail. I use the built-in mailbox on this. I never used the built-in uh reading application that is called learning on this but it works but I have never used it. Uh uh let’s say we open this book. I haven’t never done that. This is the first time here. You can of course uh read that book as you normally do here. And you see it looks kind of neat and it works uh quite good. You can apparently not type tap I mean you can swipe but I can see to tap and uh you can write immediately on the EUB file that works great as you see. So when reading this EPUB file, you can do uh annotations and notes and everything else. You can do whatever you want when reading this book in this application. So that works too. Uh but I use my own apps for reading. As you see, I have Storytell my preferred app. I have book fusion for uh books I don’t uh read in my subscription and I also have co-reader. So book fusion is to sync with my iPhone and iPad and all other devices that runs book fusion. Co-reader I use on um my devices that can’t use Book Fusion. So I can read books in co-reer on this and sync that with my jailbreak Kindle devices and my coobo devices that has co- reader on. But uh overall this is a really nice experience using this 8.2 in ear inc air reader and note takingaking device. It works really really nice. And uh size comparison, you can see the Unix Palmer here. Uh it’s very small compared to this 8.3 in display. You can almost fit two on books palma uh between each other for this 8.2 in display. But I said it again, this is the nicest looking air ink display I have seen on any air reader. The only drawback though I find with the display too is that it’s too bright. Uh when you’re reading on this in uh in a dark environment, for example, your bedroom at night uh and you have a completely dark room, you can’t uh you need to have some brightness of course because otherwise you don’t see anything. But brightness one on this device is too bright. It’s so bright so you your eyes are hurting when reading. So hopefully we will fix fix this in the future because uh you need to have it lower than one to be having a great user experience reading in complete dark environment. Uh so I I rather have uh less bright at the this end and have this lower brightness much more if you know what I mean. So I I would prefer this u scale to be maybe uh no uh 0.5 0.6 six maybe to be pleasant when reading in complete darkness. So half of the brightness one would be perfect. So hopefully we will add that in the future because otherwise I need to have a a lamp in my bedroom and have this completely off when reading because it’s too bright. It simply is too bright and that’s a bit bad. But I think this is uh everything for this quite long review. But um I can hardly say that this is the best ink display I have ever seen. And the pen works incredibly good for note takingaking and you can do screenshots and uh annotate on them and you can do so much with this pen. And I really love the journal feature in daily and everything else works great with syncing with Google Drive and so on. And you can of course use apps but uh if you have a an heavy app, this device gets a bit laggy unfortunately. But if you use co-reader for example for reading or the built-in application for reading then it’s perfectly fine for reading too because these apps are very snappy on this device. So that is my thoughts and this is my review of the uh wewoods AI paper mini. So, I hope you like this review and please like this video and please subscribe to my YouTube channel. Do so. Okay, bye.
