wwdc 2025 keynote just officially wrapped up apple talked a lot about all of its platforms and announced all of its new features now I’m going to warn you there’s tons of new things that Apple announced and so I’m not going to be able to get to everything but we are going to talk about all of the important stuff that Apple announced at WWDC 2025 so let’s jump into the numbers there’s a lot of new numbers that are being thrown around it might be a little confusing but I’ll try to break it down as quickly as possible all of the platforms are now going to be in sync with each other starting with iOS becoming iOS 26 and then we have Mac OS 26 watch OS 26 so on and so forth we’re just kind of getting everything as consistent as possible the biggest news however is Apple’s new design language and it’s called Apple’s Liquid Glass Design liquid Glass is what Apple is calling the new look that’s coming to all of its updates and it looks incredibly different but kind of like at first when you first look at the home screen you might not notice it but as you dive deeper into the operating system you’ll definitely tell liquid Glass is translucent and designed to refract and reflect the light from its surroundings on the iPhone the home screen lock screen controls navigation app icons and widgets have all been overhauled you can even choose a whole new glass-like look for your app icons and the lock screen has an adaptable font for the time that stretches or shrinks to fit your wallpaper speaking of wallpaper your photos now have a 3D effect that moves when you move your iPhone apps like camera have a streamlined design and Safari looks way different with more focus on the web page apps like music and news have a new floating tab bar that shrinks down until you need it there’s also a few more Apple intelligence features launching as well as a bunch of just dedicated appsp specific features so let’s try to run through everything as quickly as possible in messages FaceTime and phone it all supports live translation which gives you translations based on whatever you know language the other person might be speaking whether it’s on a phone call you’ll get the language that you speak spoken back to you or you’ll see it show up in messages automatically everything’s done instantly and it’s really helpful if you have relatives like I do in other countries that speak a different language that I am not completely fluent in as I’m doing my Italian hands right here you can see that that’s going to be really helpful when I talk to my grandma i wish I had this like 15 years ago it would have really helped me out messages also supports polls typing indicators for group chats and custom backgrounds that you can generate if you want to change up the look per uh conversation so it’s not across every conversation it’s whatever you might want with the other person apple will now screen your phone calls to weed out spam and scammers and it can stay on hold for you so you don’t have to listen to frustrating hold music visual intelligence extends to your phone screen which is kind of crazy see a jacket you like online you can take a screenshot and ask your iPhone where you can find it it also integrates with chat GPT and can do things like add events to your calendar genoji lets you mix up your favorite emoji to make something new and image playground supports chat GPT for the first time so you can generate realistic looking images for the first time carplay is also getting the liquid design that we have and it’s coming to CarPlay and CarPlay Ultra so if you have an Aston Martin again that’s awesome and you’re going to get all of this new design language with just regular CarPlay and CarPlay Ultra and you’ll also get widgets in CarPlay which is really really cool that’s not just for the Ultra which we did know was a thing but now just in standard CarPlay you can have widgets and live activities all in your car there’s also a whole new games app that’s got all of your iPhone games from the App Store and Apple Arcade plus recommendations and options to play with your friends moving on to iPad OS 26 ipad OS is I mean Apple didn’t say it but it’s basically Mac OS we finally got all of the things that we have been clamoring for so let’s try to jump through all of the new changes the windowing system lets you resize apps and places them wherever you want the iPad’s display it’s all new it’s a whole new way to multitask and you can open up a bunch of windows at one time just like you can on the Mac and you can even place them slightly offscreen if you want to just like you could on a Mac there are Mac-Like menu bars for apps and window controls for closing minimizing and resizing windows and if you resize a window and close an app it’ll open back up at the same size and position expose shows you all of your open windows just like you would on a Mac that’s going to be a theme you’re going to hear me say that a lot and you can use quick tap tiling options to see everything all at once to go along with window management the files app is getting overhauled you can see all of your files with a new list view plus there are resizable columns and collapsible folders and you can drag a folder from the files app to the doc for easier access and set a default app for opening specific types of files apple’s also bringing the Mac preview app to the iPad so you can create sketches edit PDFs and mark up images also system intensive tasks can be completed in the background apple used a uh example that’s near and dear to my heart if I wanted to export a video in Final Cut Pro but I don’t want it to like not continue to export while I’m working on something else I can jump around and it’ll go in the background and do its thing and then notify me when it’s all ready to go which is awesome and again a lot more like Mac OS speaking of Mac OS Mac OS is Mac OS 26 but it also always gets a special named after a landmark in California and this year we have Mac OS Tahoe named after the very popular Lake Tahoe it still has the same liquid glass look as iOS 26 and extends to the menu bar toolbars apps and the dock the menu bar is now invisible except for your app icon so your display looks even bigger you can customize your menu bar and control center with whatever you want including controls for third party apps and there’s a phone app in Mac OS for the very first time which again just puts you more into the ecosystem than ever before to make it easier for you to manage and make phone calls from your Mac just use the phone app you can even see your voicemails and use features like call screening and hold assist which are going to be helpful more than ever when you’re trying to you know get that bill adjusted but also you still need to get work done this is something that I think everyone’s going to really love when it comes to you in the fall live activities sync over from the iPhone so you can keep an eye on what’s going on in your menu bar spotlight can do so much more it can execute hundreds of actions from Spotlight like sending an email using new Apple Intelligence shortcuts for automating tasks and there are new filtering options for your searches and it’s easier to browse through all kinds of your content than ever on your Mac because it also incorporates search results from apps and also the Mac is getting that games app that we talked about making it easier than ever to find all of your games but this time for your Mac and you can pick up where you left off and do all of the things that we talked about for the games app on your iPad or your iPhone all right so I’m going to try to cut this down even further again I’ll have more videos later in the week but let’s talk about all of the other platforms kind of just lumped into one here the Apple TV now has liquid glass as well but you need one of the newer Apple TV models to get it all of your TV controls are more translucent and it won’t interrupt what you’re watching you can now use your iPhone as a microphone when you’re using the Apple Music Karaoke feature and it’ll even give you lyrics pronunciation so that you don’t mess up while everyone is listening apple added new aerial screen savers as well to the Apple TV and there’s an option to set any AirPlay speaker as the permanent speaker for your Apple TV on watch OS there’s a new workout buddy that uses Apple intelligence to motivate you it generates personalized insights during workout sessions and keeps you going when you’re starting to struggle it’s like having your own personal trainer but in your ears when you’re working out the workout app has a new look so it’s easier to get your custom workout routines plus Apple can automatically generate an Apple Music playlist to match what you’re doing and when you get a notification you can now just flick your wrist and it dismisses the notifications it can dismiss your calls that are coming in pretty much anything it just like do this and it goes away oh and also the notes app is now on the Apple Watch in case I need to reference a note quickly and easily last but not least we have Vision OS and this was probably one of the more audible Gaspy moments that I had when we saw widgets on Vision OS because they looked absolutely incredible you can place widgets wherever you want like if you have a photo widget you can put it on the mantle of your fireplace and it looks like a photo frame but it’s a widget in Vision OS same thing with the weather app you can put it as like a window to the outside and you can see the weather from the weather app but in your space in your house it’s just a remarkable use of the new technology that we have with Apple Vision Pro and you can now use the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers with your headset while gaming if you’re with someone who also has a Vision Pro there are new options for using apps together so you can collaborate play games and yes you can watch the same content which hear me out I understand that it looks ridiculous you could just pull it off and watch something on a TV but let’s say maybe you don’t have a TV or you don’t have a 100 ft TV in your room like you would with the Apple Vision Pro apple also overhauled those creepy personas if you remember mine you remember it was terrible it made me look like a thumb we’ll give it a shot hope to god it makes me look a lot better because the example that Apple showcased in the keynote video looked amazing so I cannot wait to test mine out fingers crossed it makes me look a little bit better vision Pro can also use a new generative AI algorithm to make your 2D photos look even more realistic with multiple perspectives for a much more 3D feel and Safari has new spatial browsing features so you can see 3D models that developers embed on a web page and you can use your eyes to scroll through web pages so that was just a quick rundown of everything that Apple announced that is just stuck in my head because I thought this was one of the best keynotes from Apple for WWDC in the last 5 years i might be crazy but I’d love to hear from you let me know down in those comments what was your favorite thing that you saw at the keynote today and uh let me know if there was something that you didn’t get that you were hoping for down in those comments this has been Dan with Mac Rimers thanks so much for watching and I hope to see you around in the next
